No you don't have a targeting pod on those missions, use your wingmen, your JTAC and get close and look through the mav scope to spot targets.

I can get a video up later if you want to.

That would be great , i just cant find the tanks at all i get close jtac says there heading east i look east but to no avail i am a noob so maybee its just practise

Hey, I screwed up my recording due to having cross mapped my fraps and joystick keys.

I made a second one yesterday though which I should be able to put up today.

Basically you have the right idea. You need to get pretty close to have the mavs lock (about 6-7 nm) also make sure to change your slew rate, I ended up with nine on my recording.

The tanks are pretty visible as large dust trails, so you can keep a watch on them from the cockpit fairly easy.

When JTAC says they are "heading east", that means they are heading to the east from their present position. The tanks could be to your north, south, east, west, or wherever, so this information is useless unless you already know where the tanks are in general. JTAC doesn't really know where you are exactly, so they wouldn't be able to tell you where your target is in relation to your present position. This is why they give you a 9-line - so you know where the target is and how to safely approach/engage it.
