Grimes Posted April 17, 2012 Posted April 17, 2012 Twas playing a mission that sent me near Inguri Dam and noticed that the water was a single color registering as "hot" on the FLIR views. Sorry for not focusing on the TGP screen to illustrate the issue better, I had abit of a joystick control issue at the time. The right man in the wrong place makes all the difference in the world. 159th_Viper Posted April 17, 2012 Posted April 17, 2012 That screenie illustrates a bug which has already been rectified in the latest build, ie the BHOT and WHOT indications are swapped. In your MFCD, it is actually WHOT that has been selected as opposed to BHOT as indicated. Also apparent is that all rivers, waterways and also the sea is affected. All water will appear as Black on a WHOT screen and White on a BHOT screen, which indicates that the water is actually much cooler than the surrounding hot objects, registering 'cold', as opposed to much hotter, or 'boiling', as you phrased it. This could be due to the way the FLIR is modelled at present, such limitation precluding a better rendering until the system is reworked, which is on the wish-list/to-do list. Insofar as targeting is concerned, it is of little consequence as with BHOT, hot objects are darker than a cooler water/background...... and with WHOT, hot objects are lighter than a cooler water/background.....
