qwasder Posted April 20, 2012 Posted April 20, 2012 Hey all, this sound rudimentary, but I can't manage to put two players into the same group using the editor. Once I expand a group to 2 or more planes, only the first one can be controlled by a client, all the other planes become AI only. Is there an easy workaround for this? Maybe a script that changes a planes JTRS-groupID to a certain number right at the beginning?
159th_Viper Posted April 20, 2012 Posted April 20, 2012 You cannot. Client aircraft are one per group only. SADL setup is attended to as part of your startup procedure so not sure why you would need a script. Novice or Veteran looking for an alternative MP career? Speed Posted April 20, 2012 Posted April 20, 2012 (edited) It might be possible to have you start in the same same SADL group as another MP client, but with a different own ID at mission start, but for multiplayer clients to actually start in the same aircraft group, that's impossible. ED's code simply doesn't support it, and don't I think that the code's group mechanics/assumptions that forced this restriction could be changed easily. Wrecking Crew Posted April 21, 2012 Posted April 21, 2012 qwasder - After you make *all* of the details for the first Client, such as group name, pilot name, BOR number, waypoints and names, loadout, etc., then you can create more Clients from that first one. Select the first Client on it's object - not on a waypoint - and press Cntrl-C Copy and then Cntrl-V Paste, and you can make a bunch of Clients from there. You will need to follow the waypoints and line them up as they will be slightly off. Grimes Posted April 21, 2012 Posted April 21, 2012 The copy and paste function is based off of the location of the mouse, so if you hit copy, line up your mouse as close as possible to the client you copied, and hit paste, the waypoints should be pretty close. daribouca Posted April 22, 2012 Posted April 22, 2012 I think that if you mess with the "mission" file inside the "*.miz" files, you'll be able to set the SADL as you wish. Juste look for "GroupID" value (there are several of them, I forgot which one commands the SADL). Hope it helps !

I've got a buddy that I want to fly with and we would create a number of training missions where he and I fly together with the same waypoints for learning navigation landing, etc. Then, when we learn how to use the weapsons, we would want to have all that the same too. Maybe I'm not looking at this correctly, but it seems like this should be available. Now, if I make each group a two ship, can we have AI in Multiplayer games? Thanks.
Jona33 Posted May 21, 2012 Posted May 21, 2012 By messing around with the mission file you can set custom callsigns and probably SADL. And yes you can have AI in an MP mission but why would you want to? Simply fly with each other and you havea two ship Always remember. I don't have a clue what I'm doing

So, what is the best way to setup a two ship multiplayer mission? Two "groups"? Thanks.

Thanks. SADL is Situational Awareness Data Link. You can share position and targeting information with another SADL equipped aircraft. Yep, create a group, copy and paste it and when flying DON'T use ATC. It's even more annoying in MP than it is in Single. Always remember. I don't have a clue what I'm doing
