Sarge55 Posted April 26, 2012 Posted April 26, 2012 If you just received your TM Warthog then it's probably already up to date with respect to firmware. You can check using the Target software. Check your axis commands under options and make sure you do not have duplicate settings causing a conflict. Clear the settings and reset if necessary. For zooming in and out some people use the friction wheel on the right side of the throttle. I set up my mic switch + paddle (modifier) forward to zoom in and the mic switch + paddle back to set to default. That way I don't have to take my hand off the throttle to zoom in. Hope that helps. blade782 Posted April 26, 2012 Author Posted April 26, 2012 ahh thx, i did find a conflict, some questions, is the paddle actually used for something? does a real a10 hotas have it? also is there a way i can use the separate throttles during start up when i have to kick them up from off to idle? or i still have to use ctrl and alt home keys?
cichlidfan Posted April 26, 2012 Posted April 26, 2012 also is there a way i can use the separate throttles during start up when i have to kick them up from off to idle? or i still have to use ctrl and alt home keys? Yes, you sure can. The Warthog is amazing don't you know!:) That stop that you have to lift them over, at the forward end of their travel, duplicates the system on the real thing. Sarge55 Posted April 27, 2012 Posted April 27, 2012 As Cichlidfan said with respect to the throttles, although I find that if I don't get engine start when I first move the throttle over the gate I have to ease it back a bit over the gate and then forward again and it will start. It might be just my throttle that's a bit touchy like that but just in case it happens to you, now you'll know. Yes there is a paddle like lever on the real A-10 although I understand it's a bit lower down and is yellow and I can't remember what it was used for. One of the guys that actually works on A-10s had a photo and explanation somewhere on the forums here if you are interested. For us though, it's for whatever you want to assign to it, I use it as a modifier for programming a few extra functions on the buttons etc... Yskonyn Posted April 27, 2012 Posted April 27, 2012 (edited) The paddle is used for SAS emergency disconnect in the real bird if I remember correctly. It's yellow and lower down indeed. A few tips to prevent issues: 1) any controller you add to your pc (e.g. gamepads, etc) will get default functions assigned by DCS once you start and may cause weird control conflicts. So either unlug them, or leave them plugged in, but delete the assignments. 2) DCS knows in which port your controller was. So this means that when you plug out your hardware often, be sure to plug each component in the exact same USB port again. Otherwise you will loose your bindings and DCS will assign default bindings to that input controller.
