MadTommy Posted May 3, 2012 Posted May 3, 2012 Something that has been annoying me for some time that i cant figure out... i always have loads of dead space in all my posts. See below for more examples. I don't want to be hogging space on these forums but i cant stop it! :music_whistling: always dead space under my text before the end of the post.. i notice others dont have this wasted space. http://forums.eagle.ru/showpost.php?p=1447083&postcount=4 http://forums.eagle.ru/showpost.php?p=1447634&postcount=8 I've looked at CP settings and can't see anything that influences this. Any ideas? i5-3570K @ 4.5 Ghz, Asus P8Z77-V, 8 GB DDR3, 1.5GB GTX 480 (EVGA, superclocked), SSD, 2 x 1680x1050, x-fi extreme music. TM Warthog, Saitek combat pro pedals, TrackIR 4
159th_Viper Posted May 3, 2012 Posted May 3, 2012 (edited) Have you tried disabling the 'Display Signature' tab in your user profile? No idea if it'll work but it's worth a go. Edit: Nm, it seems only an admin can disable. Edited May 3, 2012 by 159th_Viper Novice or Veteran looking for an alternative MP career? Click me to commence your Journey of Pillage and Plunder! Panzertard Posted May 3, 2012 Posted May 3, 2012 Because your Avatar is so high. If you post 1 line, and with a high avatar, the box on the left builds the remaining space. No avatar, and the total height of your posts would have been smaller. The mind is like a parachute. It only works when it's open | The important thing is not to stop questioning
MadTommy Posted May 3, 2012 Author Posted May 3, 2012 Really? My avatar is 80px in height.. looks the same height as both yours & viper's.. and yet you don't have a load of dead space... Are you sure Panzer. I'll remove it a test it. Cheers for you help. i5-3570K @ 4.5 Ghz, Asus P8Z77-V, 8 GB DDR3, 1.5GB GTX 480 (EVGA, superclocked), SSD, 2 x 1680x1050, x-fi extreme music. Panzertard Posted May 3, 2012 Posted May 3, 2012 I assume we're seeing the same amount of space? Member info cannot be lower/truncated - hence the post-area must stretch until the bottom is aligned. We're talking about the same thing? However - you lack a signature, so your post-area appears to be larger than mine. See? The mind is like a parachute. MadTommy Posted May 3, 2012 Author Posted May 3, 2012 Yes we're seeing the same thing.. and it makes sense.. if i had a signature the signature would take up that space and what i think of as dead space would likely disappear. The post & sig cannot be smaller than the height of the member info. Thanks for the explanation and taking the time to make me a wee graphic illustrating it. :) Now it won't annoy me! But i'll have to knock up a sig now :P i5-3570K @ 4.5 Ghz, Asus P8Z77-V, 8 GB DDR3, 1.5GB GTX 480 (EVGA, superclocked), SSD, 2 x 1680x1050, x-fi extreme music.
