Even with every other DCS product working fine, this DCS World install gives me problems every time I install it, It hassles me over the Visual Studio 2010. I've even had to re-install or fix that before it would let me run P-51...

If I try to skip the step over direct-x install, mine is up to date, I still must choose that or the P-51 fails to install..

I jsut give in and tel lit to instal things I already have installed...

I don't have acopy of the direct verabe on erros, because they are so long worded about files names, and it's a real pain to copy the messages.. I am trying again, it's been a real pain uninstalling and re-installing only to find I can't access P-51 because it doens't like my files,, or it looks for some msi type file for silverlight which I don't have, but yet I have silverlight

Win7...

I am on another try now, see what happens...

I think more options are needed, isntead of it making you install proglrams, how about leaving those as a complete option, chances are we already have the latest version if we have 5 flight sims running ok...

Just wondering, is anyone else having issues when they install DCS world, the P-51, or is it just me,, the last instal hassled me, and it took a couple tries.. this install is a hassle..

Yes! I know it's beta,, but the install process really is taking hours and hours....

ok, here's the hassle of the moment..

it wants to either reepair or replace

Microsoft Visual C++ 2010 x64 redistributable or remove it... why??? it must be running fine or else my other 5 flight sims would complain??

last time I said repair and off it went looking for some Silverlight file.. then I searched the ms website, and ended up mired in files I didn't need or couldn't find..

Geeesh,, here i go... maybe i will just remove the files and go from scratch this time.. last time repair got me nowhere..

I sympathise with you. I have had problems and will not and cannot elaborate again on those issues. I've yet to get the P-51 in the air, yet I can (without one bit of a problem) do EVERY ONE of DCS products. ANd yet I have been told it is my computer. NOT! All i can hope for is the 16+ hours it seems to take to at this rate to download the latest version; that I will be in the skies. yet, I would put a good amount of $ on the fact it ain't gonna happen. Glad it worked for you. The Devil is after me!

Don't uninstall! Just rename your folder to "DCS World_old" for the game folder and "DCS_old" for the Saved Games folder. Then install the new distribution to the same folder as previous, it will recomend "DCS World" forlder you used the last time.

Remember Administrator priviliges for installation and disable antivirus during install.

By default DCS World will try to install Microsoft Visual C++ 2010 runtime DLL's. If they are already installed (same version or newer) then you will get the message you saw.

Actually, you can already select this:

attachment.php?attachmentid=65170

Since a number of people have already run into this problem, it would seem best if ED add a detection in the installer to automatically control the checkbox.

Those other flight sims probably don't use Microsoft Visual C++ 2010. ED started using it with DCS World, previous versions used Microsoft Visual C++ 2008. Edited by ALDEGA
