Guys, MWO will launch the Open β next week!

However I'm quite skeptical about it. It's too soon, there are too many features not implemented yet and a lot of stuttering problems since the introduction of the new CryEngine.

Open beta is still a beta. Itll take a while, but regarding things not impemented yet, it will be like that untill the last day that title is ever played. The purpose of the game is to get featues added all the time. Thats why its time locked in 3050 and every event fom then on in the novel will happen in real time ingame. Next year there will be the clan invasion for example.

I've got to get my controls set up better for this game.

For MW2,MW3,MW4, I used to use a Joystick in the left hand to control where the mech is walking, and to control the throttle, with the Y axis disabled to avoid any extra movement in the torso twist. In the right hand I used a mouse for weapon selection and torso twist.

But for the life of me, I can't figure out how to get my setup as above with MWO's implemetation. Using the keyboard for mech direction is not precise enough. And the throttle slider doesn't seem to want me to be allowed to go in reverse and forward.

Thanks for that info Pilotasso, I was hoping there'd be more joystick support like in the older MW games. I don't aim with the joystick, I just use it to position my legs, the mouse does all the aiming as you do.

Having the throttle slider on the side of my joystick, plus all the buttons to toggle weapons and other options with the left hand allows me to have a HOTAS of sorts in the mech, while more precise aiming while on the move with the mouse in the right hand so I don't need to use the keyboard at all most of the time while in game.

System worked well for me since 1994 :D

Gauss, 2 med lasers, 2 med pulse lasers, 1 SRM6 and 1 LRM20. Doesnt sound very special but i could keep firing without overheating. the other guys couldnt...by the way 1 of them was an overconfident gauss cat. They are mean in the distance but up close they are squishy.

Aside from the bugs (that obviously to beexpected in a beta) what else didnt you like?

Well without violating the NDA: gameplay is instant action, period. Gets boring real fast.

I sort of liked just paying $40 for the Mech games back in the day and then just picking the chassis I wanted and configuring the mech in mech lab and just jumping online to play with my config against others.

I must admit that having to grind with mechs that I don't care to use, with controller options that restrict my options in battle, and games that literally last 5 min or less really takes away from the tactical aspect I enjoyed since playing Mechwarrior 2,3,and4 online.

I've been in Beta since June for MWO btw. So had some time to see a lot of improvements, and I'm sure there's more to come, but just not having the fun I had hoped for yet.

MW 4 Mercs online is still better IMHO.

NDA has been lifted weeks ago, go ahead.

The result of your experinece stems from lack of new maps, new game modes and mech variety. Still lots of stuff to be added.

For me, I praise the arms independent aiming. In previous games you had to move the torso to aim all your weapons.

I'm completely new to MW universe so i find lack of descriptions on weapons and other equipment really disturbing. Other then that game is ok. When bugs get ironed out MWO will be great game and serious competition to WoT.

Specs is something ongoing and to be improved. Most people who went for beta are die hards of the table top game and battletech universe where the ingame stats come from.

I was introduced to the MW worls when I purchased my PowerVR card, which was crap but the game was good and liked this different concept of sci fi tank simulator.
