When I try to select the first digit of a Tacan Channel number the knob doesn't move. The only change I can make is with the XY Channel Knob

and flip-flop X and Y. Can you tell me why I can't get the Channel Select

Knob to move ?

Thanks

Hi Eddie

That worked thanks but I have another problem, When I'm approching an

airfield for example "batumi" (App. Freq.) 131.00 VHF I can only dial in low

as 3. I can't put a 1 as the first number when I try it on the VHF or UHF

Radio's,can you tell me what I'm doing wrong ?

Hi cagrimes,

To dial in that frequency you must select the right radio.

On the left pedestal, you have 3 radios.

1. The VHF AM radio

2. The UHF radio

3. The VHF FM radio

As it sound you tried to dial in 131.000 Mhz into the VHF radio at the aft end of the pedestal.

This radio doesn't have the frequency range, because it is FM and not AM, and so you can't dial in the frequency of Batumi. The VHF FM radio is mostly used to talk to ground units like the JTAC.

The UHF radio has also another frequency range. This radio is mainly used to talk to your flight/wingmen.

The radio you are searching for is the VHF AM radio. It is the radio above the UHF radio (the radio closest to the throttles). It has a frequency range from 118.000 Mhz up to 149.000 Mhz if I remember correctly.

If you want to talk to any airfield you have to use this radio, because this is the frequency band which most airports use.

Also Civilian traffic uses frequencies from 118.000 Mhz upwards, however I don't know the limits by hard, sorry!

BTW: Below 118.000 Mhz is the frequency range of the VOR (also ILS and DME) systems.

And below that, basically below 108.000 Mhz there are the normal radio frequencies (to listen music and that stuff, you know ;) )

Hope I was able to help you!

John

Is radio Georgia accurately simulated in A10C?

I tried to put the "Batumi" appr. Freq 131.000 in the VHF radio under the Throttles but still can't enter a number 1 as the first digit. The first position won't go lower than number 3. I put the left selector knob in AM and the right selector knob in TR position.

Can you post a track showing what you're doing. I think you're confusing people because you can't even set the first digit on the forward (VHF/AM) radio to 3, so we're really not sure what it is you're trying to set where.

The first "one" is automatic. When you twist the dial for the first column, you'll see 10, 11, 12, 13....

Really? Thanks, despite having been involved with this sim since well before the public betas I never knew that. :music_whistling:

Funnily enough, 10, 11, 12, 13 etc are not "3", hence the whole point of my post.

What I've been trying to do is contact approach control of the airfields I attemp

to land at after I have finished with a mission. I get the approach freq's from the CDU divert page. Then for example I try to input the freq. into the VHF FM radio (131.000) the first digit only will go down to 3, no further. I've tried to

insert a 1 as the first digit of the frequecy on all three of the radio's but they

all only go as low as 3. I hope I have explained clearly what I've been trying

to do.

Thanks

Hmmm are you using the wrong radio?

or try turning the number up to 13.

Which radio would you use to call appreach in the sim for "Butumi" Freq. 131.000. I tryed using the VHF FM radio but I can't put a 1 in the first

digit slot but it won't go lower than 3. Can you help ?????

Post a track mate. I think it's the only way we'll be able to work out where things are going wrong without people guessing for another few weeks until someone stumbles upon the correct answer.

Well I've trid what you suggested but I still can't get a reply from any ATC .

Are you absolutely sure you are keying the correct radio?

VHF-AM = HOTAS MIC switch forward (LShift + Num+)

VHF-FM = HOTAS MIC switch aft (LAlt + Num-)

UHF = HOTAS MIC switch down (LAlt + Num-)
