Guest IguanaKing Posted October 9, 2005 Posted October 9, 2005 Hello, I am trying to venture into movie-making, but I am running into trouble with rendering my tracks to avi. I am trying to render uncompressed, 100% quality video, with the lowest sound settings, at DVD resolutions (720 X 480...I think) and 30 fps. It takes a HUGE amount of time, which I expected, but the end result is unplayable and uneditable outside of LOMAC. WMP10 tells me a required codec is missing which is required to play the video. Does anybody know what that codec is and where I can find it for download? Thanks in advance. :D
Weta43 Posted October 9, 2005 Posted October 9, 2005 You are going to end up with HUGE files. Have you just tried the DivX codec at 100% & 1800 x 1200 (or something like) 6 - 7 minutes ends up ~ 200MB, & the quality is pretty good... Cheers.
Guest IguanaKing Posted October 9, 2005 Posted October 9, 2005 Thanks Weta, I'll give it a try. I tried another Divx option (Xvid I think it was called) but it left an annoying, grey block at the upper, left-hand corner of the video. Maybe the actual Divx one will yield different results. BTW...Cinepak plays just fine, but the quality of the video is awful, lots of flashing textures there.
Guest ruggbutt Posted October 9, 2005 Posted October 9, 2005 Alparysoft codec is the best one that will work for 1.1. It used to be Huffy, but now Huffy crashes Flaming Cliffs. Watch my Viper Drivers movie, that was done in Alparysoft and the final was rendered to WMV.
Weta43 Posted October 9, 2005 Posted October 9, 2005 I.K. Make sure that the 1.1 window is the active window - if the settings monitor is in front & overlapping the frame it will render that across the video Cheers.
ED Team Glowing_Amraam Posted October 9, 2005 ED Team Posted October 9, 2005 I don't know if this is any helpful at all, but have you tried FRAPS? I use fraps to make all my movies. Your computer doesn't really have to be the best in the world to do this either :D Just look at the vid OSC or Superior Fighters. I made those on a crappy computer. ;) https://www.youtube.com/channel/UCgJRhtnqA-67pKmQ3A2GsgA ED youtube channel https://www.facebook.com/glowingamraam My facebook page
Guest IguanaKing Posted October 9, 2005 Posted October 9, 2005 Thanks to all. Rugg, alparysoft works wonderfully, but it puts a logo at the bottom-right. Maybe I'll have to pay to get rid of it, which is fine, if it turns out to be better than the free options. Weta, thanks again, I might give that another go. I haven't tried the Divx option at the bottom of the options menu yet, so, that might be the answer. GA, thanks for the advice. I have Fraps 2.1, but its video capture function has a HUGE effect on the FPS of the rendered video.
Weta43 Posted October 9, 2005 Posted October 9, 2005 I.K. By default that bottom DivX option will start with the settings monitor over the video & capture it. I always change the resolution on my screen before I start to something high enough to have a bit of room around the video as it renders & click onto the LO application as soon as it starts rendering, which means you get the little grey box over the first frame , but it's gone after that. Cheers.
Guest ruggbutt Posted October 9, 2005 Posted October 9, 2005 Thanks to all. Rugg, alparysoft works wonderfully, but it puts a logo at the bottom-right. Maybe I'll have to pay to get rid of it, which is fine, if it turns out to be better than the free options. I just trim the bottom of the frame out in my video editing tool.
Guest IguanaKing Posted October 9, 2005 Posted October 9, 2005 Just tried Divx 6.0, and the video looks as if I am OCing the hell out of my video card....lots of intermittent, white noise in the rendered video. Thanks for the tips though, guys. :D Rugg, I'll try trimming the video, but I've never tried trimming the video area, just the beginning and end of clips...it might work.
Guest ruggbutt Posted October 9, 2005 Posted October 9, 2005 Iguana, what program are you using to piece the vid together?
192nd_Erdem Posted October 9, 2005 Posted October 9, 2005 I don't know if this is any helpful at all, but have you tried FRAPS? It looks like a good choice, but the sound issue when doubling(or tripling) the framerate really pisses me off. It's only good if you have countless hours to put all the sounds back in or just do a movie without ingame sound.
Guest IguanaKing Posted October 9, 2005 Posted October 9, 2005 Rugg, I'm going to be using UVS 6 (I know, old program, but it works pretty well). BTW...I'm using Alparysoft now, and I didn't need to trim the video to get rid of the logo. All I had to do was click on the "protection settings" tab and register my copy. The registration was free. :D Thanks again for the helpful suggestions everybody.
S77th-Basscadet Posted October 10, 2005 Posted October 10, 2005 i use Gamecam i think its a pritty cool tool, an also i use my sound card to record ingame sound so its easyier to manage 'Basscadet' "just when you thought they stopped putting monkeys in planes"
