mjmorrow Posted May 10, 2012 Posted May 10, 2012 (edited) I was thinking, at some point in the future, it will be nice to see adversaries. (I am sure I am not alone in thinking this! :music_whistling:) I have heard rumors about possible DCS German machines, but just rumors. I guess that we would need at least one form of BF 109 (maybe some type of G version, like Hartmann used) and one form of FW 190. For the BF 109s would it not be best to have a heavily armored version, for attacking bombers and a light armored version, for defending the bomber interceptor versions of the 109? I have also heard that there were versions of the 109 and 190 that could outperform the Mustang, in speed? One such machine was the 109k, I think? Well, I am sure that there will eventually be debates about balance and the coolness factor of super performing 109s, in the not too distant future, so I might as well get that ball rolling. What are the thoughts of the community or the developers, with regard to future Allied and AXIS machines? :pilotfly: MJ P.S. If all of this is already being discussed in a 1000 page thread, please direct me there! :megalol: P.P.S. P-47, B-17 and a B-24 machines would be a hoot! Edited May 10, 2012 by mjmorrow 1 [sIGPIC]http://i688.photobucket.com/albums/vv250/mjmorrow76/SPAD%20of%20a%20new%20generation_zpshcbftpce.png[/sIGPIC]
Nate--IRL-- Posted May 10, 2012 Posted May 10, 2012 There are some WW2 AI aircraft in the works from 3rd parties. No Idea when they'll turn up though. Nate Ka-50 AutoPilot/stabilisation system description and operation by IvanK- Essential Reading
mmaruda Posted May 10, 2012 Posted May 10, 2012 It's more about the way the pilot uses the planes advantages. A 109 G2 could put up a fair fight against the Mustang, same goes for G6. As for the K version, these were really not good in terms of production quality as they were developed in haste, in a shed or something, mostly to shoot down bombers. Germans really had to make do at the end of the war. Anyway, I played some IL-2 over the years, and there were quite a few god players easily owning the P-51 in 109 E4 variant. Balance is not really important in sims. Anyway, if anyone is interested in FMs, how one plane would compare to another and all, you should go to some IL-2 forums. People there are always arguing about this, they will throw performance charts and historical data, pilot accounts, all of it at you. Basically, stuff people know from popular documentary series doesn't even scratch the surface.
EtherealN Posted May 10, 2012 Posted May 10, 2012 (edited) I'd be quite happy with late-model spits. Could serve as both "friend" and "adversary" depending on which skin you put on it. :D EDIT: Regarding the K, I always understood it's issues (most specifically the engine problems) to have been caused by lacking access to raw materials forcing the manufactureres to use sub-standard materials for critical components? I've no idea where I got that from though, some memory from the distant past. :P Edited May 10, 2012 by EtherealN [sIGPIC][/sIGPIC] Daniel "EtherealN" Agorander | Даниэль "эфирныйн" Агорандер Intel i7 2600K @ 4.4GHz, ASUS Sabertooth P67, 8GB Corsair Vengeance @ 1600MHz, ASUS GTX 560Ti DirectCU II 1GB, Samsung 830series 512GB SSD, Corsair AX850w, two BENQ screens and TM HOTAS Warthog DCS: A-10C Warthog FAQ | DCS: P-51D FAQ | Remember to read the Forum Rules | | | Life of a Game Tester
