Nicely done! Another Horsemen P-51 to add to the stable. :)

File isn't found though. Strange.

Hi everyone,

I found a couple errors in the README, to avoid confusion I've resubmitted this skin. I'll update the thread once it's available again.

Thanks!

Very nice! Just a hint, you just need to have the SPEC files in the new livery's folder (and then you set the top four spec lines in the description.lua to false, meaning the SPEC maps are in the same folder as the DIFF ones), you don't have to put them in the P-51D folder in "Bazar\World\textures\P-51D" as well. ;) Nicely done!

Another minor gripe, Winnipeg's numbers are 274, not 288. :)

Um, nope. You're obviously referring to 9274, which is currently registered in the US and flying in it's old RCAF livery. A nice restoration, and kudos to the owner/operator as the markings and colours are spot on. The aircraft I chose to represent is 9288, as it would have appeared in the early 1950s.

There was actually an entire squadron of Winnipeg Mustangs, just as there was for Calgary, Vancouver, Hamilton, etc, all part of the early post war RCAF Auxiliary, part of Air Defense Command, and responsible for the defense of the home country, ie Canada's "National Guard" at the time.

After WW2, the Auxiliary squadrons were referred to by the sponsoring city name in the tradition started by the RAF, instead of their 'other' name which was usually an indigenous Canadian animal, ie Winnipeg "Bears", Calgary "Wolves" (note the Wolf logo nose art on the 403 Calgary Mustang I posted). Meanwhile, squadrons in the regular RCAF (like the Sabre squadrons serving NATO overseas at the same time) used the more familiar (and more aggressive) names like 410 "Cougar", or 416 "Lynx", etc.

Here's some other "Winnies" from the same era:

9273

A whole bunch of them, 9563 is nearest to the camera, coded AC-U, in the earlier paint scheme, and before the RCAF changed the marking style to using the last three digits of the serial instead of a single letter for individual aircraft ID, squadron ID remained as a two letter code, 402 used "AC". These codes were later randomized instead of being assigned in alphabetical order according to squadron number, ie. 400 - AA, 401 - AB, 402 - AC, etc.

Lastly, here's 274 then:

Ah, thanks for the heads up, this will make it easier. I'm not used to colour spec files yet, and the A-10C skins I did were all matte finish anyway so I didn't have to play around with them... :)

So the textures are there but you have a grid overlayed with Missing Textures? Sounds like your SPEC map isn't getting loaded. Make sure the way this mod is packaged that you put the "Bazar\World\textures\P-51D" folder in its place.

Edit: Disregard, glad you got it working.
