JanJoh Posted May 15, 2012 Posted May 15, 2012 Hello! THis question is probably answered somewhere in the forums, I did search but probably for the wrong phrase. I am pondering ordering a Leo Bodnar interface, and building myself a small panel. Mostly for trimming, but a few switches. But I wonder, is it possible to ignore the switch covers in the simulation? Take the starter button in P-51D for instance. I would like to wire it up to a Off-Mom switch, and quite frankly I do not want to first open the cover in the sim, and then hitting the switch.
CubPilot Posted May 15, 2012 Posted May 15, 2012 (edited) The switch covers in an aircraft are there to avoid accidental activation of a switch. In real life & DCS they are only a cover. No electrical switching is done with the switch cover. The actual switch does the work. So the answer is you can ignore the switch covers. They are only needed in real life and for those building a sim cockpit who wants to simulate the real look of the cockpit they are modeling. :pilotfly: Edited May 15, 2012 by CubPilot [sIGPIC][/sIGPIC] Win7 Pro 64 | Asus Rampage III Extreme |Swiftech H2O cooled: CPU, Video, N. Sokol1_br Posted May 15, 2012 Posted May 15, 2012 Switchs cover are for security, if you don like, dont use. No problens for USB controller/game. :) Sokol1_Br
JanJoh Posted May 16, 2012 Author Posted May 16, 2012 Yeah, I know WHY they are there. ;) So, in other words, the sim will happily allow the starter to turn even if the switch cover in the virtual cockpit is in the "locked" position?
JG14_Smil Posted May 16, 2012 Posted May 16, 2012 You may have to press or send the keypress twice: once for the cover, again for the switch. I wired NC buttons under my switch covers so they work properly.
