Azazel Posted May 16, 2012 Posted May 16, 2012 I want DCS to become the base that all sim developers go to. I love DCS A-10C and P-51D and if the huge moding community that is out there can start striking deals with ED (like the Mig-21) then this sim stands a chance of becoming the standard for all combat aviation simulations (kind of like Il-2 was for years but better). With any luck, the DCS world is just now scratching the surface of its future capabilities/potential. Honestly, I'm kind of surprised that the DCS World and the 3rd party modeling aspect hasn't created a larger splash on SimHQ. Then again it is just a beta  My Rig: EVGA GTX 1070 x 2 | EVGA x58 SLI classified | i7 X 990 CPU | 24 GB RAM | Windows 10 Home 64 bit| Track IR Pro | CH Fighter Stick | CH Throttle | CH Pro Pedals | [sIGPIC][/sIGPIC]
Bearcat Posted May 22, 2012 Posted May 22, 2012 Couldn't agree more... There ae some pretenders to the throne out there.. but frankly this thing stands in line to win it all.. an established community.. and there is an established WWII community just chomping at the bit for some digestible fare.. With all the current WWII stuff out there .. this is the only thing that I see that has the true potential to deliver on it's hints of promise.. The jet stuff is pretty much unequaled .. DCS could lock up a huge swath of the genre if they handled this right... Right out the box with just one friggin aircraft they did more right than any of the current crop of WWII developers that I have seen.. runs great on my 6 year old Fx-60 and looks d@mn good on low settings.. I haven't even tried to crank it up to see where it starts to stutter... Mission builder.. mission editor... AI... It isn't perfect but it has all the ingredients that a simmer would want... from any era .. and believe me.. there is enough out there for the gamers already.. As far as WWII sims go .... the King is old.. and very long in the tooth.. his heir while he could be a great king (way too much Game of Thrones..:P) is weak and vulnerable... the upstarts may not have what it takes to ride it out for the long haul.. but this .. this has some muscle. 213 Posted May 22, 2012 Posted May 22, 2012 cliffs of dover is a much more complete ww2 product if that's what you're looking for. and the ww2 genre will, in the near-future, likely be dominated by war thunder(world of planes), a great looking f2p ww2/cold war era sim-lite with lock on/il2 level realism and hundreds of planes.
Boomer Posted May 22, 2012 Posted May 22, 2012 The only thing that we can do right now is to flood 3rd party devs with emails and forum questions, eventually when they see enough interest, they WILL come over. Wishlist: DCS: MiG29M/CMT | DCS: MiG25/31 | DCS: MiG-23MLD | DCS: F16CJ

I am well aware of the Gaijin and 1C offerings but at the moment I still think that DCS is at a critical point with this and could find themselves in a good position. blackbaron Posted May 22, 2012 Posted May 22, 2012 this sim and flight model outclasses CLoD easily I think a lot of these guys that keep "reminding" us about CLoD are jet jockeys and their afraid their next jet will lose more dev time
Agg Posted May 23, 2012 Posted May 23, 2012 But how does a developer become a third party DCS-developer? As of right now there's no publicly available SDK, so anyone who wants to make something have to make a deal with ED or something, to get access to the tools?
RoaringBones Posted May 23, 2012 Posted May 23, 2012 (edited) We don't know what's going on back there, maybe more things are in the works maybe not.As you know there's already a Mig 21 being worked on.And I believe some have sent emails to other places like milviz..etc etc..just to spread the word about possible other 3rd parties what goes on after that is none our biz, till they make stuff more public.. Just saying. :) Edited May 23, 2012 by RoaringBones
