Farmer_Fred Posted July 6, 2012 Posted July 6, 2012 Hello I picked up an X52 pro the other day and have not had any luck getting it to work in DCS a10c, besides the axis. I've tried Tom Weiss' http://www.lockonfiles.com/index.php/blog/12/entry-106-x-52pro-a-10c-tutorial-part-1/ and followed instructions. I have cleared the X52 pro settings in game and then reloaded profile. I've also cleared the config settings in the saved games folder. Any help would be great. Is there a step by step walkthrough of installing/loading x52 pro profiles anywhere? Thanks,
HiJack Posted July 6, 2012 Posted July 6, 2012 Sorry Fred but the Saitek support forum is the place to look.
HiJack Posted July 6, 2012 Posted July 6, 2012 Also make sure you download the updated drivers and software from saitek.
Farmer_Fred Posted July 6, 2012 Author Posted July 6, 2012 Thanks Jack, will take a look over there. Hopefully something straightforward i'm missing
cichlidfan Posted July 6, 2012 Posted July 6, 2012 Fred, I just took a quick look at the link you posted and... It sounds to me like you have not installed the X-52 lua file. Your X-52 column should not be empty. It looks like Tom's profile includes a custom lua file that replaces the system default. If you clear the column then you need to load the lua file that Tom provided. Farmer_Fred Posted July 6, 2012 Author Posted July 6, 2012 Hello, I've tried Tom's .lua but to no avail. I read a thread where you helped someone else with a similar problem and tried deleting the config files but with no luck. Struggling to think what else now. I haven't had any profiles work so far..
cichlidfan Posted July 6, 2012 Posted July 6, 2012 OK. Bear with me here since I have not used an X-52 in a while. There are two separate configurations that you need to load. One for the X-52's SST software (the X-52 A-10C v1.pro) and the other for X-52 configuration within DCS (the Saitek X-52 Pro Flight Controller.lua) the other lua file is a custom Countermeasures setup and is not, directly, part of what isn't working. Are you able to right click the joystick icon in your taskbar and load the profile into the Saitek software? If you have that working then you are done with that side of things. Do you have the X-52 lua copied into your A-10 saved games folder per Tom's instructions? Were you able to load that profile into DCS from Options>Controls? I know you cleared the columns but I am trying to figure out what steps are not working correctly. Farmer_Fred Posted July 6, 2012 Author Posted July 6, 2012 Hi cichlidfan, I can get the profile loaded into the Saitek software. I copied the .lua file into the joystick folders in the save games folders, for the a 10. I then loaded the profile in the actual game, first clearing the x52 column and then loading the .lua of Tom's. Ah- I just made sure that I loaded the .lua that i replaced in the joystick folder and now the buttons do seem to be working on the x52 pro in game, well most of them! some still don't seem to beB quite in the right place! I'll have another play and see if they are working,,
cichlidfan Posted July 6, 2012 Posted July 6, 2012 If some work and some don't, DO NOT clear everything and try again. If it works partway then it is installed. From there it is best to see what is not working and try to deal with that specifically. Especially true if that profile was built with an older version of DCS A-10. Farmer_Fred Posted July 6, 2012 Author Posted July 6, 2012 some odd things such as the air brakes deploying what seems randomly and when I deploy the flaps there's a click but nothing happens. Thanks for your help on this, will try and fill in the gaps.

Thanks for your help on this, will try and fill in the gaps. Assuming there is not a hardware problem then it will come down to looking at the profile in the editor to see what it is sending and also looking within the A-10 control settings to see how they match up. Also make sure that any other controllers have eroneous setting deleted, make sure to check the axis settings along with the buttons settings. DCS will automatically assign funtions to controllers that it sees. This can produce unexpected results. The upside being, once you poke around in there a bit, you will end up with a pretty good understanding of how the profiles work and how to change them to suit yourself. Farmer_Fred Posted July 6, 2012 Author Posted July 6, 2012 Thanks for all your help. will tidy up the other controllers tomorrow. Night!
Farmer_Fred Posted July 9, 2012 Author Posted July 9, 2012 Doh! it would seem I'm back to square one as I've installed DCS World and although I can fly the Su25, I am getting no control at all with the A10. I tried the A10 profile I use in the standalone and also tried with a blank profile.. Hmm..
Farmer_Fred Posted July 9, 2012 Author Posted July 9, 2012 Actually there's a bit more to it than that as my MFD's don't work, or keyboard functions (except Esc). Couple that with not being able to get facetrack working, maybe I'll stick with the standalone for time being
