MxGDiChello Posted July 12, 2012 Posted July 12, 2012 Hi guys my names Josh, and I am new to Flight Sims. I have always been big into dog fighting and stuff(arcade style) I really want to try the Warthog and have been doing my research on the stick throttle combo I want to do. It's between x52 and the CH Fighter and Pro Throttle. The only problem is that if I go with CH I need pedals as well. I just bought A-10c Warthog as I have been a thunderbolt fan all of my life. Any suggestions to getting started without my stick combo, and what stick combo I should get?
Revelation Posted July 12, 2012 Posted July 12, 2012 There are multiple options. Regardless of the route you go, I still recommend rudder pedals as it will give you more control authority. The x52 and the CH are good as well as the Logitech G940(comes with pedals). You can't go wrong with any of these systems. If you can stomach it, I HIGHLY recommend the Warthog HOTAS with the Saitek Combat Rudder pedals. This has been a great combo for me. For some reason my training option doesnt work and just has a stuck screen, and when I try to do a fast mission I can't get in the cockpit of the a-10 or I dont even know how. I have a serial key, but it never asked for me to use it. Could this be why?
MxGDiChello Posted July 12, 2012 Author Posted July 12, 2012 I guess having the latest a-10c warhog and an earlier version of dcs world could do it too. oops.
Settingz85 Posted July 12, 2012 Posted July 12, 2012 X52´s often have problems with inaccurate sliders. Never heard anything bad about the Logitech G940. Warthog HOTAS fits perfect to this Sim and many people report of a high quality stick. Buts its the most expesive one, i think.

They need to update the torrent download on the website because its 1.1.2 or something and the latest is 1.2.0

It's my impression that the X52 is usually considered a good choice by people that use it, plus it's already got the yaw axis built into the stick so you don't necessarily need rudder pedals right away (and AFAIK the yaw axis can be mechanically locked if you get rudder pedals). If I may, my recommendation is to go for a decent stick+throttle (I think all of your choices will be fine) and add a TrackIR (or one of the alternatives) right away because that'll enhance situational awareness in a way that no joystick ever could. My order of importance would be: Joystick -> TrackIR -> Throttle -> Rudder Pedals. Of course, any shortcut (like getting stick+throttle at the same time) depending on budget and personal taste would just increase a sim's fun factor. :)

I will have to get track IR and upgrade to a warthog. ill probably get the track ir first though.
