markturner1960 Posted July 17, 2012 Posted July 17, 2012 Apologies, but I am confused. I have A-10 version1.1.11. I have BlackShark2 version 1.1.11 I Don't have DCS world, but I want it. I don't have Combined Arms, but I want it. Please, what is the correct procedure to have the latest install for all these 4 products. I see reference to uninstalling all DCS products first, is that right? What do I have to download, what do I have to uninstall and what do I have to do nothing to? And do I understand correctly, that once I have the new install, with A-10, Black shark, combined arms all residing nicely within DCS world, all future updates will be automatically applied by DCS world? Thanks, its really not clear and I have had a nightmare in the past updating and verifying, to the extent that I have even had to buy A-10 twice, once download, and once hard copy due to activation issues that I was never able to resolve. I never got replies to my support tickets. But I am not moaning about that now, I just want to spend more of my money on Eagle dynamics products and get them working without having to go through some kind of tortuous procedure... Thanks,, Mark System specs: PC1 :Scan 3XS Ryzen 5900X, 64GB Corsair veng DDR4 3600, EVGA GTX 3090 Win 10, Quest Pro, Samsung Odyssey G9 Neo monitor.
joey45 Posted July 17, 2012 Posted July 17, 2012 You don't really need to un-install Version 1.1.1.1 but if you are space limited then yes. 1] Download and install DCS: World > 4 files around 4.5 gigs in total 2] Download the World modules* of what you have in this case A-10C and BS2 3] Buy and download CA module* 4] Enjoy. *between 170-700 megs give or take. Revelation Posted July 17, 2012 Posted July 17, 2012 Also is your version of Blackshark2 the full version or did you purchase the upgrade from BS1 -> BS2? Be sure to download the right BS2 version for DCS World. Win 10 Pro 64Bit | 49" UWHD AOC 5120x1440p | AMD 5900x | 64Gb DDR4 | RX 6900XT
joey45 Posted July 17, 2012 Posted July 17, 2012 on moer thing if it is the upgrade version you will need to have BS1 installed first... AFAIK. markturner1960 Posted July 18, 2012 Author Posted July 18, 2012 (edited) OK, so nothing needs uninstalling - out of interest then, why in the release announcement here: http://forums.eagle.ru/showthread.php?t=90961 does it say in the "installation" section "uninstall all previous DCS products" ? Not trying to be clever, just trying to understand the big picture....... So, I buy DCS world, install, then the 2 upgrade modules for A-10, & BS2. Then buy the CA module. I imagine the installer finds and integrates my existing installations etc? Thanks for the help, but I am sure I am not the only one confused, its really not clear from either the website or the information releases. And the patch situation and upgrade depending on what version etc you had is even more confusing.. By the way, how can I tell which BS version I have? (upgrade or full) I paid 26.99 in the shop and when I look now, the upgrade version is 19.99 and the full version is 36.99....... Secondly, I know DCS world is free, so are the integration / upgrade modules for BS2 and A-10 as well? reason I ask is that the BS2 upgrade was not.. If its true that by doing this, everything will be automated from now on, then that is a huge step forward - I can tell you that i simply did not play either of the 2 titles I already had, because it was so much grief to get them activated and patched correctly and then to get the controllers to work etc..Hopefully this is now addressed somewhat, but there is definite room for improvement in making the whole accessibility thing more user friendly. Just some hopefully useful customer feedback. Revelation Posted July 18, 2012 Posted July 18, 2012 To answer your first question, you would want to uninstall previous versions of DCS World, i.e. 1.1.2.1 (if I remember correctly). The stand alone A-10 and BS2 are 1.1.1.1 and will not get any more updates as a stand alone. These will not interfere with DCSW. DCSW is free. The modules are what you buy. Your key for A-10 and BS2 will work for DCSW modules respectively. You will need to buy CA if you wish to manage ground force or jump into one. When it comes to BS, you can log into your account on the DCS site and you will be able to see your purchase history. You will be able to see if you own the full version. Another way to tell is did you own BS1 and buy the BS2 upgrade or did you buy BS2? It sounds like you bought the BS2 upgrade? If you bought the BS2 upgrade you will download the BS2 upgrade for DCSW; you will need to have BS1 installed to install the BS2 upgrade for DCSW. If you already own A-10C and BS2 then yes, they are free modules as you have already bought them. BS1 -> BS2 was released as payware because the Devs put a lot of work into it and felt it warranted a consumer cost. The patching system is not in place, they are working on a system. Currently you will download any module update you wish to have access to. DCSW being the largest and the only required one + your AC of choice to stay current with the times. If you want to fly in the most current environment you will need to download v1.2 for all patches you wish to utilize, DSCW being the first. Without sounding rude, that's as simple as one can make it. Win 10 Pro 64Bit | 49" UWHD AOC 5120x1440p | AMD 5900x | 64Gb DDR4 | RX 6900XT
markturner1960 Posted July 20, 2012 Author Posted July 20, 2012 OK, thanks for that info, Sorry, one final question: i have the CD version of A-10, patched up to 1.1.11. There is only one DCS world module for A-10, it says its for the English download version. Will that work with my A-10 install ? Cheers, Mark System specs: PC1 :Scan 3XS Ryzen 5900X, 64GB Corsair veng DDR4 3600, EVGA GTX 3090 Win 10, Quest Pro, Samsung Odyssey G9 Neo monitor.

I've left my A10C 1.1.1.1 install for now but you don't really need it unless you are flying online with A10C servers only. Just install the latest DCS World, then 1.2 A10c module and you are good to go. But the CD key you have will allow you to install the download versions of DCS as well, so in short you dont need the CD but you need the serial key on the box :-)
