Hello,

Im new here I just finished today Setting Up my Server with ServMan v3 in DCS World 1.2.0.

Everything you need to do it is in this forum but as this comes from a long time you have to dig in to find what you need.

Here I will try to explain from 0 how to set up a server for this version of DCS World, its really simple but in this guide I will try to aviod you all the "Digging" that I did and explain everything as detailed as I can.

All credits are for the creators of this Mod.

And also I would like to thanks everyone that helped me to Set Up mine.

Ok, finishing with my life, lets set up our server.

Clarifications:

- There are NO Dedicated Server Files, so to have a server you need to have the DCS World and at least 1 mod Installed and running, I have A-10C mod.

- To run a server you will start the game as you were going to play it in multiplayer, so you NEED to be able to run the game in multiplayer (video card, direct X, etc) in your Server.

(mstsc / Windows Remote Desktop won't let you run the game as it doesn't load the video drivers, you can use LogMeIn (free) to launch it, once its Up you can log in from RDP).

Downloads:

- Download the ServMan301-rc1.zip from the Official ServMan v3 thread - Click Here

(ModMan and ModMan A-10C Patch are not needed).

- Download the file "main.lua" attached to this post. Click Here

Installation:

1- Go to your: "DCS World Folder" -> Scripts -> net, and Backup your "main.lua" file.

(Example Path: "C:\Program Files\Eagle Dynamics\DCS World\Scripts\net\")

2- Unzip the ServMan301-rc1 in your Desktop.

3- Copy the "Scripts" folder from the ServMan and, it in your "DCS World Installation Folder" and replace everything that is requested.

(Example Path: "C:\Program Files\Eagle Dynamics\DCS World")

4- Copy de Downloaded from this post "main.lua" into "DCS World -> Scripts -> net" folder and replace it.

(Example Path: "C:\Program Files\Eagle Dynamics\DCS World\Scripts\net\")

5- Create a "Missions" folder in your "DCS World Folder"

(Example: "C:\Program Files\Eagle Dynamics\DCS World")

6 - Create a "Multiplayer" folder inside your recently created "Missions" folder.

(Example Path: "C:\Program Files\Eagle Dynamics\DCS World\Missions")

7 - Add all your server missions inside your recently created "Multiplayer" folder.

(Example Path: "C:\Program Files\Eagle Dynamics\DCS World\Missions\Multiplayer")

8 - Edit the ServMan serverconfig.lua file as pleased. It is in the "DCS World Folder" -> Scripts -> Addons - ServMan3 Folder.

(Example Path: "C:\Program Files\Eagle Dynamics\DCS World\Scripts\Addons\ServMan3\") (Read Suggestions in this post before doing it)

Suggestions:

- If you are Setting up a Dedicated Server, Set all System Config to Low, Sound Low, etc.

- Be really careful when editing your serverconfig.lua, a wrong "," or space will make the ServMan not to work.

- Don't take out the "pause" from the Server, it will be automatically taken off when a new player log in to the server. (Suggested config in serverconfig.lua)

on your RD client, with nothing else running on it, open your browser and go to 'speedtest.net'. list your download and upload speed results.

as a side note. logmein has a larger overhead than other apps. perhaps a vnc (pick a flavor) may better suite.

Thanks

So just to confirm Iam using RDP onto my server and can launch and run

a dedi multiplayer server , but the game lags like crazy even with only

1 person on the LAN connected to it , is this because of RDP ?

Mmm, Its odd that you are able to use RDP to launch the game as it doesn't use the Video Drivers installed. Don't know why you are able to but if you are, great :P.

No, Lag depends on the conection you have. You also can be getting low server performance because of the mission, Try the server with a really light mission like adding a A-10 in a airport and nothing else.

Create a simple mission with the editor, adding just one plane and set it as Client so you can use it.
