dooom Posted July 28, 2012 Posted July 28, 2012 Hi all, I was pretty proficient with the ME in previous DCS titles and am now very interested in trying to develop a small coop requiring client JTAC. I have a few questions before i embark that i hope someone could shed some light on as I am unaware whether there have been changes with the recent updates. Questions: How many radios does a JTAC have? i.e. how many concurrent frequencies can they be tuned to? Can i selectively broadcast an audio signal to the client JTAC only - or - alternatively, can I send a "Message" toi JTAC only based upon triggered actions? Is it possible for the JTAC to activate a FLAG in game? I am thinking i would like to have some sort of authorization measure in place to punish attacks not authorized by JTAC... Thanks for the insight. I'll probably purchase CA regardless but I am interested to know if the mission idea in my head is feasible. Ripcord Posted July 29, 2012 Posted July 29, 2012 Good questions, particularly the first one. I've not played MP yet, so I am looking forward to seeing responses from others on that. I will say that I've not seen a JTAC in SP use more than one radio, but that doesn't mean that they couldn't use more than one. Why would you want that or need that? What do you have in mind? You can send an audio sound or message to coalition or to all -- not your question I realize. And there is a way to send it to a group, though I'm not sure if it is possible to send to a specific group, or just one's own group. One item that is interesting is RADIO TRANSMISSION, which is an action in the trigger menu that allows you to send a sound over a specific frequency that you can define. So if you have a freq with ONLY your JTAC on it, then yes, you will have sent a message ONLY to your JTAC client by issuing this Radio Transmission command. I can think of several ways to let a human JTAC or any other MP ground unit activate a flag in game. One would be by adding a ADD RADIO command, another might be by using a script of some sort. Cibit Posted August 8, 2012 Posted August 8, 2012 From all the ME work I have done I believe that the frequency set in the advanced tab of the unit will be the only one the JTAC will be able to use. So you have a choice of FM or AM but only one frequency per unit. i5 8600k@5.2Ghz, Asus Prime A Z370, 32Gb DDR4 3000, GTX1080 SC, Oculus Rift CV1, Modded TM Warthog Modded X52 Collective, Jetseat, W10 Pro 64 [sIGPIC][/sIGPIC] Adding JTAC Guide //My Vid's//229th AHB

I'm still curious about the RADIO TRANSMISSION action. What is meant by selecting a trigger zone and the power in Watts? Does the trigger zone define the source of the radio message, or the range within which it can be heard? I'm trying to get AI JTAC to request my CAS when enemy units get close, but I'm not having luck hearing radio transmissions in SP, even when tuned to the correct frequency and modulation. i5-2500K @4.2 GHz | 16GB RAM | GTX460s in SLI | 1TB HDD (internal) | 1TB HDD (external via eSATA) for FRAPS recording | Thrustmaster Warthog HOTAS | Saitek Pro Flight Combat Rudder Pedals | TrackIR5 | 50" LG monitor
