Is the series still using the same style DRM as it used in the original Black Shark?

I was thinking about picking up Combined Arms, as well as the P51, but if the same DRM is in place with a fixed number of installs, I'll pass and move on to simulations from another company.

Thanks!

To clarify:

A-10C, BS2, P-51D and CA use a system where, if you use your last activation, it will be "reissued" automatically after 30 days. If you then use this one, this will of course also be automatically reissued.

For previous products (FC1, FC2, BS1), a support ticket will get you refilled if you do run out.

Not even BS1 had a limited number of installs, they only had a limited number of activations, which additional activations supplied by ED support if needed.

All DCS products from A-10C onward use Starforce AAA. http://forums.eagle.ru/showthread.php?t=67025

I won't be purchasing anything more unless that's changed, in that case. I just don't want to bother finding out ten years down the road that the company is defunct and there's no support to contact when I dust off an old game and want to install it. I'm not the kind of person that will remember to do deactivations when I reformat a drive/OS (which I do pretty regularly), and I'm not interested in paying money to make life more difficult.

Maybe they'll release these on Steam some day, and I'll grab them then.

Thanks for the response!

Eagle Dynamics policy is that if the company were to go defunct, it's final act would be to issue patches that removes the protection.

And, again, note that for the mentioned products, you have effectively infinite activations since they do refill with time without intervention from Eagle Dynamics.

Well, that is good news. I'm sort of on the fence then. Thanks for clarifying that.

I'm with BB. I never have liked Star Force. It's just too HEAVY of a DRM. In A-10, the dam thing constantly comes up saying my computer has changed. Really getting tired of it.

And then the pirates crack it and play it for free with no DRM problems whatsoever.

So far, I think DRM is just plain Anti-Buyer. It only screws with those who pay.

i am waiting for this refill for bs1 since july 17th (tickets 14209, 15502) just because i want to activate DCS-W bs2 upgrade module.

is it possible to change my upgrade license to a full bs2 license by paying the price difference so that i don't have to install / activate bs1 to be able to activate DCS-W: bs2?

Like all software, the DRM itself may have some bugs; generally, assuming you're not actually changing anything around in your PC, my guess would be that you have some peripherals with axii hooked up to yours, and the CP is picking up you leaving those axii in certain positions as a change. It's only a minor nuissance though, just need to narrow it down to what's causing it and you'll be able to avoid that pretty easy and quick.
