Ironhand Posted August 9, 2012 Posted August 9, 2012 See this post for track file: http://forums.eagle.ru/showpost.php?p=1527217&postcount=10. Not sure what is going on. In the thread in which I posted, the OP's complaint was missing audio on the Beriosa. After several atempts, I was able to duplicate the complaint. As I bank to the right, the audio disappears but the lamps remain lit and march around the dial during the continued turn until the signal is reaquired on the back side. I think the issue is not the missing sound but, rather, that the lamps continue to track the signal even though the radiation sensors are being screened by the aircraft. At other times, in a similar turn, you will simply have the audio tone disappear followed by the normal 6 second decay of the lamps. But, in this instance, the lamps continue to track the signal. Tasmanian Posted August 20, 2012 Posted August 20, 2012 Observed similar bug. I destroy a SAM hawk radar, but still get birousa indication with no sound. DCS world 1.2
Pyroflash Posted August 20, 2012 Posted August 20, 2012 (edited) I assume that it is actually that the RWR is still showing a target that isn't actually being picked up. Try doing it with a shallow bank ~15 degrees and see if it is still doing that. If not, then it is probably because the RWR is displaying threats from memory. The beeps only happen when a radar signal actually pings off of one of the sensors. If the sensors aren't picking anything up, but have picked something up before, the lamps will still be lit for about 15 seconds. The reason that you will pick signals up on the reverse is because the relative angle is less when your back is turned, rather than the sensors on your wings, which in a steep bank are either way up or way down. At any rate, I don't believe that this is a bug. Edited August 20, 2012 by Pyroflash If you aim for the sky, you will never hit the ground.
Ironhand Posted August 20, 2012 Author Posted August 20, 2012 Oh, it's a bug all right. The decay time on the Beriosa is about 6 seconds and it does that consistently except when this issue presents itself or this one: http://forums.eagle.ru/showthread.php?t=93166. Pyroflash Posted August 20, 2012 Posted August 20, 2012 Consider myself corrected then. Though perhaps the aircraft's computer senses that your angle of bank would inhibit the RWR's ability to receive pings, and keeps the lights on for longer than normal in anticipation that the signal will return. If you aim for the sky, you will never hit the ground.

I don't honestly know what various versions of the Beriosa can and cannot do. I've been out of the loop for several years now but I don't think ED upgraded the Beriosa from what they've simulated over the years. The very inconsistency of what I'm seeing strongly suggests a bug or bugs rather than an upgrade. When I control for bank angle, etc and sometimes the normal decay is displayed and sometimes not, something else is going on. The tracks I linked to (Track 1A especially), in fact, have no bank angle to consider. Pyroflash Posted August 20, 2012 Posted August 20, 2012 Yes, then I would have to agree with you that the indication presented to seem to coincide with the presence of a bug. :) If you aim for the sky, you will never hit the ground.
