Bix Posted August 17, 2012 Posted August 17, 2012 I'm lost, how do you get the MLRS to start firing on a set target. I adjust the target radius, set, then fire. Nothing happens..... how do you boys get that thing to rip?? Any good Youtube vid's on how to's like this? Can't seem to find any.
djembe Posted August 17, 2012 Posted August 17, 2012 When you select the point of attack, the MLRS must move the turret. After a few minutes the bombing began. If the MLRS not move the turret, it means that the point of attack indicated is not available for some reason (too far, too close,...)
xxJohnxx Posted August 17, 2012 Posted August 17, 2012 I think in the current version of DCS W there is a bug, which causes the MLRS not to fire if the target point isn't in the line of sight. For instance a little hill is in the way. Check out my YouTube: xxJohnxx Intel i7 6800k watercooled | ASUS Rampage V Edition 10 | 32 GB RAM | Asus GTX1080 watercooled
Bix Posted August 18, 2012 Author Posted August 18, 2012 OK, I'll try. I moved the units up a bit, well within the "circle of death" but still nothing. Bug perhaps. Thanks for the reply.
Jona33 Posted August 18, 2012 Posted August 18, 2012 MLRS's have a minimum range so don't make them too close. They also need 3-4 minutes to set up. Always remember. I don't have a clue what I'm doing
Dusty Rhodes Posted August 18, 2012 Posted August 18, 2012 If I remember correctly you have to have a AWACS up and running for long distance shooting by artillery. Correct me if I'm wrong this. That is the way it used to be so I don't know if it has changed. That is the way it used to be so I don't know if it has changed. I doubt you'd need an AWACS. There was a mission I knew in FC2 with no AWACS and Smerch's worked fine. Always remember. I don't have a clue what I'm doing
Dusty Rhodes Posted August 18, 2012 Posted August 18, 2012 I just remember in the past you had to have an AWACS flying to get artillery to fire long range. Must have changed. Rongor Posted August 19, 2012 Posted August 19, 2012 I also cant see how this could relate to AWACS, as AWACS deals with air threats and not land based targets.
Dusty Rhodes Posted August 19, 2012 Posted August 19, 2012 I believe it had to do in the early years as the AWACS also working as a JSTARS. It is a fact that it used to be like that. Now, I don't know. Frogisis Posted September 26, 2012 Posted September 26, 2012 I was having this problem and I'm pretty sure it's just because of the minimum range, which is way longer than you'd think - They have to be at least 7~8 miles out or thereabouts. Once I put them past that limit they fired away without issues. For when it goes wrong: Win10x64, GTX1080, Intel i7 @3.5 GHz, 32GB DDR3, Warthog HOTAS, Saitek combat rudder pedals, TrackIR 5 / Vive Pro, a case of Pabst, The Funk
JAPman Posted January 31, 2014 Posted January 31, 2014 (edited) Is it quick that someone uploads a mission to which Smerch works? In CA's single mission, Although Smerch appears, there is not AWACS. To killing time, Although it is in passing, it is an example of a small bug. SOCHI 2014.miz If the trigger of MISSION GOALS is not erased, the abnormal end of this mission will be done. Mission may not start depending on the case. This bug occurs that the score to which two triggers of "MISSION SCORE HIGHER THEN" were set is the same. Probably, this is an old bug. There is one more. If all "Hold" of "ADVANCED TRIGGER" set as ground forces' SP is erased, a custom-made formation will not be recorded on a missions file (mission). Wrecking Crew Posted January 31, 2014 Posted January 31, 2014 You don't need an AWACS. The MLRS has an inner range ring and an outer. The target point must be in between these two rings. You can set up a Fire At Point in the Mission Editor, or you can use a CA Ground Commander to set it up in a mission. If you use the GC, then you can see the countdown to fire in the F10 View in the Set Target panel for the artillery group. It does take a few minutes to start firing. I add a couple of trucks to the group for resupply. WC Visit the Hollo Pointe DCS World server -- an open server with a variety of COOP & H2H missions including Combined Arms. Weta43 Posted January 31, 2014 Posted January 31, 2014 Dusty's right, it was the case that for the longer range MLRS systems to fire at targets beyond their line of sight, there had to be an AWACS 'to provide targetting information' Cheers.
JAPman Posted February 3, 2014 Posted February 3, 2014 Thank you, it solved. I saw the inner circle and thought why this would have a short range.:D It seems that it is changeless at the interval of a re-attack even if AA or a MLRS unit's Ural-375 is not in the vicinity, or even if it supplies by being.
