been wanting to fly this bird very badly.. seriously enough so that I started skinning it

notice the knighthawks tail?

sorta hard to do with out knowing texture coordinates of the model or going in

and re texturing the model itself.

I am using the Canadians pktis or rattlers FC2 F-18 Complete

a f18 cockpit mod and it looks so Sweet..

this can be found here and it's a manual install

http://www.lockonfiles.com/index.php/topic/37024-fc2-f-18-complete/

the problem I am having is that only the external & internal view keys work

it seems that the bindkeys config-input-aircraft are nerfed and because I am unfamiliar

to the syntax I am unable to edit it or repair it..

who ever can fix this for me I will pay you 10 million cookie points

You can take a look at this mod:

http://forums.eagle.ru/showthread.php?t=52783

It makes most AI planes flyable. The neccessary files should be in that mod.

You can probably copy paste the files to make it work on the F18 mod. I cant remember the files you need from the top of my head, but looks like you're on the right track.

The efa mod might create some issues for the integrity check when joining servers, so if you choose to install it, make sure you have a backup of your original fc2 folder to avoid re-installing.

thanks for the reply & link but "just" flying an f18 is not entirely what I am trying to achieve

if i wanted todo that vnao v2 mod will get the same results.

I am looking for a working F-18 cockpit mod and flying f18's with irregular cockpits

is not only just wrong... but kinda feels like driving a Ferrari with a Volvo dash

I guess it's only the SUPERBUG in FSX that have a clickable cockpit for now. How good that is I don't know but there is plenty of comments about it on these forums. I personaly hope for an F/A-18C in DCS very soon! :D

thanks for the post & yeah that was my first try the only problem with using super bug is

1) you need msfx installed

2) it's a flight simulator not a "combat sim" = yuk

3) yet another money grubbing addon.. you have to buy it? pfft no thanks!

4) FSUIPC the prerequisite to the addon is a major pain to install & got multiple errors

& tracking down specific issues is on top of everything else not worth the hassle fixing..

5) my system cant handle all that anyways for what it's worth.

I personaly hope for an F/A-18C in DCS very soon! :D(HJ)

I would have ed's babies ..and I am a 100% streight guy so saying something like that means a considerable sum.

Make 3 versions like this please

Well, to be fair, If, or when, ED releases an F-18 module, you have to buy it in order to fly it. While DCS World gets updated along the way. :)

tell ed you have about a million users who all say:

I will buy it and please don't place it on a back burner project list.

please make us

F/A-18C

F/A-18E

EA-18G Growler (priority choice)

EA-18G_VX31_45-thumb-450x299-40359.jpg

Including an f18 cockpit

F-18-on-flight-Deck.jpg

Including a properly skinned U.S Navy pilot in G-suit with Modern Boeing Joint Helmet-Mounted Cueing System

(re: Post #7)

I just purchased the Superbug from this source, about a month ago:

http://www.vrsimulations.com/FA18EFSX.htm

I think the total download was 20 minutes on my bonded DSL. I paid less than $50.

I got interested in the Stallturn server in FC2 and learned about the FSX crew flying these things to the VNAO website. This will be a steep learning curve, but traps and cats are pretty easy and fun and the cockpit is worded in English.

There are online communities for this Superbug, though the enthusiasm seems to have weaned itself off. Everybody is probably playing Arma2.

I also added the Acceleration Pack's F-18 mods like the ILS crosshairs and a clearer windscreen HUD I have found to the various forums around and the T-45 Goshawk, AICarriers2 and the Arrestor Cables mod. Now these 2 jets are basically very similar to the FC2 planes of not much of a hands-on cockpit and they are fun, too. The only money expenditure was the Superbug. Though I will be sending these developers some cash for their effort.

The Superbug can simulate electronic combat by setting the FSX cowl flaps to mimic the triggers, but the Tacpac which I do not have will be coming out ready to purchase in two weeks or so....

I have not flown FSX in 3 years and it was not on my current gaming PC. I have the frame rates set at 30fps and the sliders are custom, but mostly maxed out. I get a kick chasing the airliners at 35,000 feet and flying their wing until they land somewhere. No need for a KC-135, LOL! I wonder if FSX has any operating AI F-18's flying about?

There is a "Rio Airports and Navaids" (free add-on download) for FSX that adds AI military aircraft to fly with, various models of jets, in the Rio de Janero area. The add-on mode is found here:

http://www.fsxcarrierops.com/

See the "Session Addons" dropdown under Required.

The only problem is conflict with some of the not AIcarriers2 CVN's don't meld with also using VNAO. The airports and gunnery range work. AIcarriers2 works.

I tried flying with a bunch of Italian guys on their FSX multiplayer, all in war jets, but I was not invited, so it did not last long. I guess it is about time to try flying with Pop and see if I can pass his entry tests.

I was way back in the Catskill Mountains on top of their highest peak, mid-week, back there solo, when 2, F-4 Phantoms came in to dogfight each other, electronically. These guys were really pushing the edge. This was in 1971 and I had a great airshow. The lead pilot saluted back when I waved at them on their way back to Stewart Air Force base at about my eye level between the two peaks.

If DCS ever gets a Hornet or SuperHornet I will buy it, too.

Thanks for the Modman lesson. I am still trying to get the FC2 for VNAO working.

I got Moa's Stallturn server up and running just fine. It took a lot of rework effort.

It is interesting, some wishlist in a DCS poll, the Super Hornet is top of the list almost 2 to 1 of any other aircraft wanted by most people that replied to the poll. What do they give us? A Huey! Go figure.
