mr_mojo97 Posted August 30, 2012 Posted August 30, 2012 Hia all, not sure if this has been forumed yet. I've been building some panels for my utilitarian style cockpit with a couple of BU0836X's linked to Helios. My problem is that sometimes the toggle switches take a couple of times to move on screen - you can usually see the switches flicker as if they want to work but can't be arsed. This happens with all switches maybe 50% of the time which is annoying. They're pretty basic and cheapo switches but this shouldn't really be an issue will it? They are all wired up correctly and using spade connectors so there is good connection there and at the board. I'm not sure if maybe it's a cable issue - maybe not supplying enough current to the switches or something. I'm using ethernet cables to tie the Leo's boards to the switches if it's any use knowing. Any ideas? Crisco Posted August 31, 2012 Posted August 31, 2012 Im leaning toward voltage drop myself. The longer the distance from the power source the larger the wire needs to be. Considering Ethernet cable is 22 AWG and your probably passing thru a couple devices (your controller cards) which are consuming power I would start there. Maybe try to replace one or two runs in a larger gauge wire like 16 AWG to see if that corrects the issue. As an electrician, I wouldn't use anything smaller than 16 AWG. (American Wire Gauge in case you we're wondering) Crisco
mr_mojo97 Posted September 11, 2012 Author Posted September 11, 2012 Well I worked it out. It wasn't the cables after all or the connections - in fact when the all the switches were tried in Windows Game Controllers and in Helios Profile Editor they all worked perfect all the time. There seems to be a conflict between Helios and DCS A-10C though as sometimes specific switches (boost pumps, yaw/pitch sas in particular) can be set and won't move in game for ages and may take a few on-off's to get it to work. I basically didn't bind switches that have this behaviour in Helios et voila it all works fine MSI M5 z270 | Intel i5 7600k (OC) 4.8GHz | MSI GTX1080ti Gaming X 11Gb | 500gb Samsung 970 Evo NVME M.2 (DCS World) | 500gb Samsung 850 Evo SSD (OS and Apps) | 32Gb 2400MHz DDR4 - Crucial Ballistix | Be Quiet Silent Loop 240mm | NZXT H440 case | Thrustmaster Warthog - 47608 with Virpil Mongoose joystick base | MFG Crosswinds - 1241 | Westland Lynx collective with Bodnar X board | Pilot's seat from ZH832 Merlin | JetSeat | Oculus Rift S | Windows 10 | VA |
