WildBillKelsoe Posted September 15, 2012 Posted September 15, 2012 Hi all - I've downloaded the world and I'm about to get the free aircraft too. My question is; If I was to buy the payware aircraft, which would you get first and why? I don't have a preference, I'm flight sim and combat sim experienced, and I can fly choppers as well as fixed-wing and I use TrackIR. Thanks. I would take the A-10C. The complexity of the systems guaranteed to keep you occupied. least till you can master her. AWAITING ED NEW DAMAGE MODEL IMPLEMENTATION FOR WW2 BIRDS Fat T is above, thin T is below. Long T is faster, Short T is slower. Open triangle is AWACS, closed triangle is your own sensors. Double dash is friendly, Single dash is enemy. Circle is friendly. Strobe is jammer. Strobe to dash is under 35 km. HDD is 7 times range key. Radar to 160 km, IRST to 10 km. Stay low, but never slow.
ALDEGA Posted September 15, 2012 Posted September 15, 2012 You can't have fun like this in a Ka-50.Can you land the 'hog on a frigate, building roof, etc.?
MegOhm_SD Posted September 15, 2012 Posted September 15, 2012 Can you land the 'hog on a frigate, building roof, etc.? Rgr that... The KA is an awesome weapon...you can really reach out and touch someone with the vikars...and it is loads of fun to fly... I never cared for chopper sims until I tried this one.... It's a blast and like I said...deadly Cooler Master HAF XB EVO , ASUS P8Z77-V, i7-3770K @ 4.6GHz, Noctua AC, 32GB Corsair Vengeance Pro, EVGA 1080TI 11GB, 2 Samsung 840 Pro 540GB SSDs Raid 0, 1TB HDD, EVGA SuperNOVA 1300W PS, G930 Wireless SS Headset, TrackIR5/Wireless Proclip, TM Warthog, Saitek Pro Combat Pedals, 75" Samsung 4K QLED, HP Reverb G2, Win 10
ErichVon Posted September 16, 2012 Posted September 16, 2012 ...a short description of DCS Aircrafts: The A-10 takes you up in the air, treats you to dinner, utterly destroys a brigade of tanks, and sets you back on the ground so you can have a nice dessert, have sex with your wife, and go back the next day. The P-51 ****ing LOVES the ground. While it taxis, it gets all excited and does spins without you even asking it to. It'll even get so excited that it'll fall flat on it's face and break it's own nose. It loves the ground so much, that at the slightest provocation, it will put itself there at high speed. Even when you're trying to put it gently on the ground, it gets excited, hops up and down a couple times, and then breaks the landing gears so you can't put it back in the air again. The Ka-50 tries to kill you. You get into it, and it's going to try to kill you. You say "alright, a little collective to get off the pad," it hears "LET'S DO A BACKFLIP BITCHES!" **** that thing. I can't help but love it and the feeling that, just maybe, I've tamed it once or twice. i would start with the A-10C :smilewink: I just downloaded the new 1.2.0 World Update. I have the pre-purchase of the P-51D and Warthog and both are updated. CA will be my next purchase; I like GV'ing (ground vehicles). I only fly full realism. The P-51 took me all day taming that sucker, but I got her down. Fun as heck one-on-one with the AI guy. I actually got that sucker, blew his right wing clean off in one head on pass. I have the CH Products trilogy. I cleared all the control pre-sets, and set up the controls to my 1st P-51 beta CH profile map, but I modified it. The clincher for me, unlike FSX where loading the .map screws FSX up, I loaded the CH Control Manager's P-51D profile .map I created and now she rides great, landing, takeoffs, and dogfighting offline. Pre-takeoff trim on an unloaded P-51 I set all trim at 3: right aileron, right rudder, up elevator. Go fly Aces High's P-51D and piece of cake. Now to find a server that allows dogfighting. Even in DCS World 1.2.0, still, P-51 dogfighting is rare to find. That AI opponent is fun in single player. I shotup in the air, my own single player A-10C for something to shoot at. Fratricide and lost all my points---LOL! Do not teamkill in Multiplayer. Last year I had A-10C down. I have not flown her in months and sadly I have forgotten some of it already. A-10C is a good challenge to learn. Too bad it does not have a tailhook. I know, it can be carrier landed. Black Shark for World, I will buy the full install. I am not touching my BS1 and BS2 Upgrade version---it resides in a different directory. FC2 is still fairly active. FC3 I am going to wait until I hear more feedback. I have Windows 7 Pro, 64-bit on an Alienware Aurora R3 in a RAID0 setup at 3.9 GHz. And that is now too slow.
Echo38 Posted September 16, 2012 Posted September 16, 2012 Now to find a server that allows dogfighting. Even in DCS World 1.2.0, still, P-51 dogfighting is rare to find. My "Peregrine Haunt" focuses on P-51 dogfighting. Look for it. (Soon to be dedicated, if all goes according to plan.)
W1ndy Posted September 20, 2012 Posted September 20, 2012 I'd learn the Su25T for free. It's a good way to learn the kinds of weapons and their uses that are going to pop up in the other DCS aircraft. If you're really itching to buy something, the Ka-50 is a good alternative to the fixed wing Su25T that you already own. You're gonna buy it anyway so why wait ?
Guest Izoul123 Posted September 22, 2012 Posted September 22, 2012 (edited) I'd go with the A10. It has the good interactive tutorials, and is flyable with a cheap joystick and without track ir if you must to start out/decide if you want to commit time to the sim. Once you commit, add track IR and Thrustmaster Warthog HOTAS flight setup, your learning will accelerate even faster, at a much more entertaining pace to benefit as well! A10 is the most 'polished' out of all of them for full interactive cockpits/good resolutions in my opinion as well. I have not tried the P51 yet though.... They are all 'great' from what I've seen, but the A10 shines the best in my opinion. From the new multiplayer missions and existing ones, the KA50 is really nice to have people flying on some missions. I still struggle with it however. SU25 is super nice as well for multiplayer SEAD support, but the limited cockpit/views even with track ir frustrate me. SU25 is the best for SEAD in multiplayer in my opinion. As newbie though, I still think the A10 is the easiest to learn out of all of them so far, even though it has the most interactive/detailed things to use. Edited September 22, 2012 by Izoul123
