WildBillKelsoe Posted September 12, 2012 Posted September 12, 2012 Getting fed up with mixing a mission without proper plan in mind, I decided to go ahead and search net for tactical mission planning, in context of A-10, to get zapped by this GREAT article by Capt. Andy Bush. Hog Basics : RAF Bentwaters 1982 I understand what he offered is just the shell to a cluster-fVck of tactics similar to these, but I wonder if you guys know if similar real life tactics guide for the hog pilot... like is there a manual for the operational planning? For example, you loiter, plan at least IP 3 nm from target, bump point, pop-up point... etc...?? I mean just this guide made my experience alot more realistic and I was happy with the outcome.. I wonder if there are similar guides or material like this out there. Books, etc... all appreciated. AWAITING ED NEW DAMAGE MODEL IMPLEMENTATION FOR WW2 BIRDS Fat T is above, thin T is below. Long T is faster, Short T is slower. Open triangle is AWACS, closed triangle is your own sensors. Double dash is friendly, Single dash is enemy. Circle is friendly. Strobe is jammer. Strobe to dash is under 35 km. HDD is 7 times range key. Radar to 160 km, IRST to 10 km. Stay low, but never slow.
jazjar Posted September 13, 2012 Posted September 13, 2012 I would look in AFTTP A-10-3-1, except for the fact that it is secret :(. I like this article a lot as well. [sIGPIC][/sIGPIC]

AFTTP 3-1.A-10, Tactical Employment AFTTP 3-3.A-10, Combat Aircraft Fundamentals I believe these are what I'm looking for? unless they are like the document that listed them. meaning like 3-1.A-10 gives another infinite list of references... jazjar Posted September 13, 2012 Posted September 13, 2012 No, 3-1's are secret and unavailable to the public. That's what I was trying to say. They DO have everything about employing the A-10. equations for pop up attacks, approved tactics for specific weapons. You cant just go up and shoot stuff in the air force like you do in DCS A-10C.
