ComradeLucifer Posted September 26, 2012 Author Posted September 26, 2012 cool dayglow, will try now. Don't know what's going on with my attachment
ComradeLucifer Posted September 26, 2012 Author Posted September 26, 2012 (edited) oh, dayglow, what .lua file should I be editing? EDIT Got the displaylink manager configured like you advised. U3011 is leftmost at 0,0, followed by Lillupt 2 at 2560,0, followed by lilliput 3 at 3360,0; does this look correct to you? Edited September 26, 2012 by ComradeLucifer
DayGlow Posted September 26, 2012 Posted September 26, 2012 The monitorsetup.lua. There should be one for displaying the 2 MFCD's. You can just edit that one for the proper coordinates you need. Once you understand how it's done I'd look at PeterP's post on how to arrange the displays in a more economical fashion. ComradeLucifer Posted September 26, 2012 Author Posted September 26, 2012 in game settings I have res at 4160x1600, I have full screen unchecked, disable aero interface unchecked, running a windows 7 basic theme as advised. I looked in the monitor setup and I do not have a "monitorsetup.lua" I have the defualt 7 profiles. I was asking about the values you quoted for the x and y coords for the mfcds. Which profile should I input those values into?
ComradeLucifer Posted September 26, 2012 Author Posted September 26, 2012 EDIT For clarity's sake, the profiles I have are: 1camera.lua, 3camera.lua, Camera+LMFCD (On right side).lua, Camera+LMFCD.lua, Camera+RMFCD (On left side).lua, LMFCD +Camera+RMFCD.lua
ComradeLucifer Posted September 26, 2012 Author Posted September 26, 2012 problem: These .lua files are all done in ratios, is there a way to edit them in terms of the pixels. I did read PeterP's guide, but I still couldn't figure it out. Can you walk me through the process of editing the correct .lua possibly, because I'm not sure how to work with these ratios correctly.
ComradeLucifer Posted September 26, 2012 Author Posted September 26, 2012 (edited) for some reason I cannot seem to successfully upload the image of my displaylink; I don't think it matters however, as I have ensured the correct positioning within display as per your and Dayglow's instructions. Dell is left most, follwed by 2 followed by 3 as outlined in the above post EDIT it's becasuse I'm using wordpad, doesn't have a compatible file type that the forums will accept, but like I said, I don't think it matters at all. MadTommy Posted September 26, 2012 Posted September 26, 2012 You should have followed Peter's tip here.. Having the the small monitors below rather than to the right saves a lot of resources. i5-3570K @ 4.5 Ghz, Asus P8Z77-V, 8 GB DDR3, 1.5GB GTX 480 (EVGA, superclocked), SSD, 2 x 1680x1050, x-fi extreme music. ComradeLucifer Posted September 26, 2012 Author Posted September 26, 2012 could you please explain the difference with Peter's setup with the monitors on the bottom versus the sides? I'm confused as to why that makes it superior. I'll change it immediately, just wondering what it is that I'm doing. The x and y coords that dayglow suggested I don't think work with Peter's suggested setup, so I'm confused.
cichlidfan Posted September 26, 2012 Posted September 26, 2012 Peter's explanation is about as clear as you can get. Quoted from his earlier post: even if there is "Nothing" shown on it- this "nothing" is over 800.000 px big and has to be calculated each frame (this takes some cycles) and than transported through the v-ram. ComradeLucifer Posted September 26, 2012 Author Posted September 26, 2012 so if i set them like that, how do i ensure the 2 lilliputs display the mfcds correctly? Should my center lua res be 4160x1600?
DayGlow Posted September 26, 2012 Posted September 26, 2012 Sorry, they are all monitorsetup.lua's. I'd edit the LMFCD+camera+RMFCD.lua as its already setup for exporting the MFCDs. Back it up and then start playing around with it. "It takes a big man to admit he is wrong...I'm not a big man" Chevy Chase, Fletch Lives 5800X3D - 64gb ram - RTX3080 - Windows 11
ComradeLucifer Posted September 26, 2012 Author Posted September 26, 2012 will do dayglow! are there different values i should input due to changing my config to conform w/ peter's advice. Are your settings only valid for the previous config where the monitors went from left (0,0) to right (4160,0)?
DayGlow Posted September 26, 2012 Posted September 26, 2012 (edited) Yes. You are simply changing the size of the large 'canvas' With the monitors underneath your overall re becomes 2200x2650. Your center Rez doesn't change because the physical size of your monitor doesn't change. It's still 2560x1600. The top left corner of your Dell is still 0,0, you are just adding other monitors under it in the virtual space. So your first mfcd monitor would have x=0 as it starts on the left edge, but the y=1601. Your second mfcd would then be beside it so your x=801 and the y=1601. Do you see how the pattern happens? ComradeLucifer Posted September 26, 2012 Author Posted September 26, 2012 i think i understand, gotta get to the desktop, gimme a few
cichlidfan Posted September 26, 2012 Posted September 26, 2012 Yes. You are simply changing the size of the large 'canvas' With the monitors underneath your overall re becomes 2200x2650. You can't transpose the numbers so 2560 (not 2650) x 2200. ComradeLucifer Posted September 26, 2012 Author Posted September 26, 2012 okay one more question- how do i know/find out the x/y coords i need for the a1o left and right mfcds?
ComradeLucifer Posted September 26, 2012 Author Posted September 26, 2012 (edited) so cichlid fan what resolutoni do I need? 2560x2200 for monitors 2 aand 3 underneath monitor 1? EDIT definetly gonna set them up like PeterP sugests, as I want to save that vram! Edited September 26, 2012 by ComradeLucifer
MadTommy Posted September 26, 2012 Posted September 26, 2012 Both Peter and myself have written guides that explains how this works and how to work out coordinates etc. We have both linked you to our guides. Have you read them? What don't you understand in them? All I can suggest is you read my guide slowly and carefully and follow it. Or if you prefer Peters follow his and follow it. i5-3570K @ 4.5 Ghz, Asus P8Z77-V, 8 GB DDR3, 1.5GB GTX 480 (EVGA, superclocked), SSD, 2 x 1680x1050, x-fi extreme music. ComradeLucifer Posted September 26, 2012 Author Posted September 26, 2012 I guess the thing I don't get are the actual coords for the mfcds. I read them, I'll read them again as soon as I go have dinner- admittedly it was 2 am, so I was pretty tired. Is finding your mfcds (pixel wise) trial and error with the x and y coords? Or am I missing something obvious that makes them display the same in everybody's lilliputs. That's I guess what I'm missing/not understanding. Not trying to be difficult or anything, just very dense when it comes to spatial stuff

ComradeLucifer Posted September 27, 2012 Author Posted September 27, 2012 figured I'd upload my .lua, maybe one of you guys can give me your opinion. Haven't run it yet, just finished editing it. Attached find the .lua Should my center res be x=2560 y=2200 or different values?MFCD Config Attempt One.lua
ComradeLucifer Posted September 27, 2012 Author Posted September 27, 2012 okay, I'm getting some of the tad and cdu repeater pages on the mfd displays, but not that much and my Dell U4011 res is unbelievably streched out. not sure what to do
cichlidfan Posted September 27, 2012 Posted September 27, 2012 Should my center res be x=2560 y=2200 or different values? OK. I want you to think about this really really hard.
