ENO Posted October 4, 2012 Posted October 4, 2012 Eh guys- I can post a track of this if necessary... perhaps it's already a known issue. Basically I went in last night to check out the new gun animations and fired a burst into the ground. Actually looked really great! Smooth performance, nice effects... Only issue is it keeps going... and going... and going... as I fly away for about 15 seconds I see rounds hitting the ground along my flightpath- on both sides. It gradually tapers off... I have noticed this issue in the past but it wasn't AS noticeable just because the animation on the round impact was a little more subtle. It was such that I could dismiss the errant rounds as deflections or something to that effect. This was happening last night with the latest patch applied. Certainly not a critical issue especially if I'm the only one seeing it happen... perhaps it's something on my end? Anyone else? Nate--IRL-- Posted October 4, 2012 Posted October 4, 2012 This is intentional. It is one of the main reasons that real pilots never over fly targets, as there is potential to get struck by rounds you've fired. SmokeyTheLung Posted October 4, 2012 Posted October 4, 2012 If it bothers you use HEI, those don't ricochet. They hit the ground and go bang:D System specifications: Computer, joystick, DCS world, Beer
ENO Posted October 4, 2012 Author Posted October 4, 2012 Hmmmm interesting. Thing is it's the ones hitting the ground for 15 seconds on either side that are detonating in that HEI fashion. Either way- not a huge deal... probably something that will get tweaked at some point. "ENO" Type in anger and you will make the greatest post you will ever regret. "Sweetest's" Military Aviation Art

If they're kicking up dust far away from initial impact they're API rounds. The effect of bullets hitting the ground is just unrealistic and misleading in this case. HE rounds never ricochet in DCS afaik System specifications: Computer, joystick, DCS world, Beer
Tucano_uy Posted October 4, 2012 Posted October 4, 2012 I was always about to post about this. I understand that that AP munition will ricochet, but shouldn't HE go off on the first impact? A puff of dust at most would be ok for ricocheting AP rounds. Also, a bit off topic but related, I noticed on the new CA 7.62 rounds explode with a big blast and a 4 metre column of smoke. It seems excessive even if those are the tracers breaking up. Is this the way it is supposed to be or maybe should be revised?

Hopefully they will fix that System specifications: Computer, joystick, DCS world, Beer
