ZQuickSilverZ Posted October 7, 2012 Posted October 7, 2012 I uninstalled DCS World 1.2.0 to install DCS 1.2.1. I am getting an error on installation. I:\Program Files\Eagle Dynamics\DCS World\Bazar\ParticleEffects\effects\DCSFire.lua An error occurred while trying to create a file in the destination directory: Data error (cyclic redundancy check) Click retry to try again, Ignore to skip this file (not recommended) or Abort to cancel installation. However I:\Program Files\Eagle Dynamics\DCS World\Bazar\ParticleEffects did not delete on the uninstall. If I try to delete it it says Cannot delete effects: The directory is not empty I can not drag it to the recycle bin either. If I try to access the ParticleEffects folder it says The disk in drive I is not formatted would you like to format The Disk in drive I IS formatted. How do I fix this??? I need, I need, I need... What about my wants? QuickSilver original. "Off with his job" Mr Burns on the Simpsons. "I've seen steering wheels / arcade sticks / flight sticks for over a hundred dollars; why be surprised at a 150 dollar item that includes the complexities of this controller?! It has BLINKY LIGHTS!!" author unknown. These titles are listed in the chronological order I purchased them. [sIGPIC][/sIGPIC]
Joy Posted October 8, 2012 Posted October 8, 2012 I'm sorry to say this, ZQuickSilverZ, but looks like your hard disk I: is dying. Try to check its health condition using a program like Hard Disk Sentinel. EtherealN Posted October 8, 2012 Posted October 8, 2012 Quite possible. I'd suggest attempting install somewhere else to see if that works, and putting your I: drive through a set of tests to determine it's health. Might be time to pre-emptively secure data from it for a replacement before it fails completely. CRC error on install is a bit weird in that context though. EstherealNs' suggestion is wise as it will rule out the HDD failure possibility. If you can istall to another loacation then your download isn't corrupt and your HDD is in error and needs to be replaced. or just booted as having an I drive indicates a lot of drives in the system anyway.
