How flexible is the mod system/api?

I am wondering just how much a 3rd party can do with this system.

Specifically i'm wondering if it is possible as a 3rd party to:

1) Add new terrain areas

2) Add new land/air/sea vehicles under player control

3) Build something similar to DCS Combined Arms

Intel i7-4770k @ 4.4ghz, 32gb ram, GTX 1080ti, Oculus Rift S

Advanced apologies if my post contains typos or missing letters. Many of my posts are typed on a laptop with an old keyboard that has a personality all its own.

1) Should eventually become possible.

That's sounds like a fairly safe statement. :P

Yes you are correct, currently it is not so. When Nevada/EDGE come around, that should change. :)

Oh ... I think I made another safe statement :D

Keyword eventually, with no timeline or official answer/promise. ;) I gave simple answers, but one can hope!

I used to play flight sims like you, but then I took a slammer to the knee - Yoda
