toffke Posted November 11, 2012 Posted November 11, 2012 Do i have to quit the mission to assign the keys? Thats a joke or do i miss something? Next question is, i downloaded a g940 xml profile file for dcs bs 2 but i only can load *.lua files. :(
ishtmail Posted November 11, 2012 Posted November 11, 2012 This I would also like to see very much. It's been quite a process to assign a sensible profile for P51D, to my Warthog joystick - lots of going in game and exiting to make controls changes were necessary, and it would considerably speed up the process of optimizing your controls, if you could change them while in game... JaBoG32_Prinzartus Posted November 11, 2012 Posted November 11, 2012 It is a PITA indeed, but an SSD helps to reduce that loading times. One of the major reasons I bought one was the very same issue that you are having. While having an SSD reduces the loading times, it is still not convenient to having quit a mission in order to change the control assignemnts. Bungle_uk Posted November 11, 2012 Posted November 11, 2012 +1 It would be nice to be able to adjust controls "on the fly" pardon the pun. Would make it a lot easier to get things set up initially.
maturin Posted November 11, 2012 Posted November 11, 2012 At least let us look at the damn list of controls!
BRooDJeRo Posted November 11, 2012 Posted November 11, 2012 Leave the ingame controls original, make a screenshot of the key-binds for reference and set up the keys in the controler device software. You can Alt-TAB to it. Another advantage is when the settings need to be trashed after an update only the 'chat all'-button , some OSB-buttons and the joystick axis need to be set and youre good to go.
Blaze Posted November 11, 2012 Posted November 11, 2012 (edited) Aye, most controllers these days have their own programming software (i.e. T.A.R.G.E.T) so that you don't have to mess with the default buttons, and it much more open to customization. And that xml program you downloaded for BS2 should be loaded through the profile software that came with your G940, not through DCS itself. ishtmail Posted November 11, 2012 Posted November 11, 2012 Maybe. But this complicates things: DCS World remembers controller settings for each aircraft individually, so basically, once you have your controls set for different aircraft, you don't have to think about it: just select the aircraft and fly. If you set your controls in Target, you have to do it for each aircraft separately. And then you have to run the proper profile, depending on the plane you want to fly. And if you switch to a different airplane, you have to go to Target and load the proper profile again. And you have to do this EACH time you run DCS World, and EACH time you switch a plane. Since DCS does this automatically, it just seems like a hassle to use an additional external program for something DCS already does well enough.
