louisv Posted November 11, 2012 Posted November 11, 2012 Blew a gasket here, oil pressure to zero instantly and klang...prop freeze and I did not quite made it back to the runway...But what did I do wrong ? SimFreak Posted November 11, 2012 Posted November 11, 2012 Why did you crash? Reply shows you just nosed over into water
ophiuchus Posted November 11, 2012 Posted November 11, 2012 To me it shows engine failure after about 3 minutes of flight. Overheat? I had the same thing few weeks before, and since then I don't use near max manifold pressure or RPM. And even if, I don't keep it for more than few seconds. And always keep eye on temperature gauge, to counter any needle move beyond green zone ;)
SimFreak Posted November 11, 2012 Posted November 11, 2012 Odd my reply shows your engine running while you dive into water....
ophiuchus Posted November 11, 2012 Posted November 11, 2012 Looks like some bug related to replaying tracks :D Seen that like yesterday, after I wanted to se my mustang being shot down by AAA. Instead wing torn off by canon, I saw me, crashing into the hillside just as if I let go of the stick.
louisv Posted November 11, 2012 Author Posted November 11, 2012 Well in my version...there is no water involved in the crash. The engine seizes and I turn to land on the strip, land side, and crash 30 feet before the threshold. But it seems the track system in DCS world is a view into the multiverse :smartass: Interesting... sobek Posted November 12, 2012 Posted November 12, 2012 Did you take off before your engine was warmed up? Good, fast, cheap. Choose any two. Come let's eat grandpa! Use punctuation, save lives!
louisv Posted November 12, 2012 Author Posted November 12, 2012 Did you take off before your engine was warmed up? The mission starts on the runway with engine running and dials show its warmed-up. The manifold pressure was below the red line and the RPM in the green when it happened. I think that malfunction is set to be a bit too sensitive. The random malfunction option was set to off. louisv Posted November 13, 2012 Author Posted November 13, 2012 I found out that opening the oil and coolant radiators for a few seconds cools the engine right out...who knew...:music_whistling: It seems that if your engine temp gauge is at the end of the green area - not past it - you are in very real danger of seizing the engine. So I put the rads on switches. MSI Z170A Titanium Edition mobo + 6700K CPU 32 GB G.Skill TridentZ memory 3200 MHz Sandisk Extreme Pro 256 GB SSD Samsung 950 Pro 512 GB M.2 SSD (3 GB/s) for DCS and +. KLR Rico Posted November 13, 2012 Posted November 13, 2012 But it seems the track system in DCS world is a view into the multiverse :smartass: Holy crap! It really is! i5-4670K@4.5GHz / 16 GB RAM / SSD / GTX1080 Rift CV1 / G-seat / modded FFB HOTAS
