Your next wish will be a TrackIR. That's a complete game changer as well. I can't imagine flying without it. It takes a bit of time to get used to, but then when properly wired into your brain, the sim just kind of pulls you through the monitor frame. You loose every concept of the actual surroundings you're in, the room, the desk, all the hardware. Suddenly you ARE in that cockpit...

I now know EXACTLY what you mean!! With the headset on, the engines whining, glancing over the edge of the cockpit down below... it's as if everything in the room disappears!!! I have a flatscreen TV mounted above and to the left of my desk and had been watching some basketball... after about 30 minutes, it was as if it wasn't even there!! Incredibly immersive!!!

Really starting to love this game even though I suck at it ^^ and can't wait till my TrackIR gets here.

Also really wanting to get the cougers put on two small screens, just not sure if I can figure out how to get what MFCDs display on them.

But still, very awsome game, glad I picked this one for my first sim. (unless you count ARMA as a sim ofcause).

Oh... I so feel the same!! LOL!!! The hardware is definitely helping to level the learning curve a bit... but when it starts out as extreme as the DCS A-10C, there's only so much you can do with hardware. This one just simply demands time in the seat and in the literature. I'm really learning to take pride and appreciate the sense of accomplishment that comes from all of the "Baby Steps"... 'cause there ain't any learning this one in a week or a month! I have lots of time I can devote to learning this sim, but trying to move too fast seems to rapidly prove to be counter-productive more often than not. I read threads where pilots are thrilled with an in-flight refuel... trust me, you're gonna see a new thread from me when I reach the point that I can fly around picking out runaways randomly, and putting it down on the donut 5 outta 10 tries!!!

I would like to add a disclaimer though. If you are serious about accepting the challenge of mastering a real, truly hardcore sim... then DCS's A-10C is exactly what you want. Also, to all you guys I keep watching shredding this thing in YouTube videos... a major hat tip to you all! Please keep posting them! They are a serious inspiration to keep moving forward!!

Cheers,

Matz

On the subject of the Trackclip pro; it is so flimsy. I ordered a second to keep as a spare.

I opted to make my Trackclip completely wireless. I have the Logitech G930 headset which is wireless and then I stuck a rechargeable battery pack to the headset and also attached the Trackclip. It easier just to look at the picture below. Having a completely wireless headset along with a wireless Trackclip is the best.

Right now I'd be happy if I could just get the damn plane to hold steady at a certain altitude, keep going up and down some hundred feet.

Currently working my way through the navigation training mission and it's giving me a headache :p

Gotten pretty good at startup and take off and can stay in the air without crashing...though turning without gaining altitude is still a mystery to me.

Great looking way to set it up Fuzzy, and I like the idea of the "no wires" rigging!! My headset is a Corsair 1300 Vengeance, which has a pretty flat side piece that I clipped onto. It's a good snug fit, and looks nice and safe, but I'll probably end up putting a ziptie on it like Cookie did on his. I've already decided, that if the clip breaks, I'm just gonna mount it to the headset with hot glue and be done with that! lol. I figured the best way to avoid breaking it, is to not whack it on anything, so I put a hanger on one of my shelves, so that when I take it off, I just hang it up where it can't bang anything, or get banged very easily at all. I'll admit... it could be much better built, but mine seems nice and snug and pretty safe so far *fingers crossed*. My bet is TrackIR comes out with an upgraded clip soon, as this seems to be a widespread complaint of a very good product.

A bit of rudder helps and be smoothe on the controls turtle.

I must say that my write offs have reduced significantly since getting the Hotas Warthog as my landings have been a lot better. Just seems to respond a lot better to my inputs.

Heya ST... all I can say is, Trim, Trim, and Trim again! As Nigel pointed out, a bit of rudder helps smooth things out as well, but there's a reason the top (and largest) HAT switch in the actual A-10C stick, is the "TRIM", as the A-10C relies on manual trimming. Check page 493. :book: As for "gaining" altitude while banked, you should find yourself losing altitude in a banked turn. In a tight or sharp turn, you should be having to pitch "up" when you bank the turn.

I may be developing a bad habit, and hopefully some pilots here can catch me before I DO have a bad habit that I need to break... but if I have a bit of a TTG on a waypoint, I hit the Autopilot after I get trimmed to the waypoint at straight and level flight. Is this a good thing to do, or nay??
