hubson Posted November 13, 2012 Posted November 13, 2012 Are these settings from FC2 still accessible in DCS World? How can I change them? sound.cockpit_world_volume = -9.1 sound.cockpit_world_lowpass = 1000
hubson Posted November 19, 2012 Author Posted November 19, 2012 Anyone? Is there a way to attenuate external sounds while in the cockpit in FC3? Mods: Could this thread be moved to 'Mods and Apps' section please? Its not about any bugs in my question, I shouldn't have place it here in the first place.
Kuky Posted November 19, 2012 Posted November 19, 2012 You have option for that in Audio settings of the sim called "In Cockpit" slide it down and it'll attenuate external sounds in cockpit And you know, cockpit is not acoustically that good, you hear less with canopy closed but won't cut out all external sound PC specs: Windows 11 Home | Asus TUF Gaming B850-Plus WiFi | AMD Ryzen 7 9800X3D + LC 360 AIO | MSI RTX 5090 LC 360 AIO | 55" Samsung Odyssey Gen 2 | 64GB PC5-48000 DDR5 | 1TB M2 SSD for OS | 2TB M2 SSD for DCS | NZXT C1000 Gold ATX 3.1 1000W | TM Cougar Throttle, Floor Mounted MongoosT-50 Grip on TM Cougar board, MFG Crosswind, Track IR
hubson Posted November 19, 2012 Author Posted November 19, 2012 In-Cockpit slider adjusts internal sounds only (cockpitSystems.wav, cockpitAfterburner.wav etc) I now that cockpit itself is not totally sound proof in real life, but I'd like to set it to my liking in the sim (I'm using pretty loud custom outer sounds). Thanks for the replay anyway.
Kuky Posted November 19, 2012 Posted November 19, 2012 Have you tried it? That slider is to change sound level of external sounds to be heard in cockpit when canopy is closed... hm at least that's what it used to be PC specs: Windows 11 Home | Asus TUF Gaming B850-Plus WiFi | AMD Ryzen 7 9800X3D + LC 360 AIO | MSI RTX 5090 LC 360 AIO | 55" Samsung Odyssey Gen 2 | 64GB PC5-48000 DDR5 | 1TB M2 SSD for OS | 2TB M2 SSD for DCS | NZXT C1000 Gold ATX 3.1 1000W | TM Cougar Throttle, Floor Mounted MongoosT-50 Grip on TM Cougar board, MFG Crosswind, Track IR
hubson Posted November 19, 2012 Author Posted November 19, 2012 Have you tried it? Yes, I've double-checked. When set to 0 all internal sounds are gone and no difference to the engine noise from the outside.
Kuky Posted November 19, 2012 Posted November 19, 2012 Yes, I've double-checked. When set to 0 all internal sounds are gone and no difference to the engine noise from the outside. hm...alright, then do the reverse, reduce all other sound sliders and leave this one on max, you'll get the wanted result? PC specs: Windows 11 Home | Asus TUF Gaming B850-Plus WiFi | AMD Ryzen 7 9800X3D + LC 360 AIO | MSI RTX 5090 LC 360 AIO | 55" Samsung Odyssey Gen 2 | 64GB PC5-48000 DDR5 | 1TB M2 SSD for OS | 2TB M2 SSD for DCS | NZXT C1000 Gold ATX 3.1 1000W | TM Cougar Throttle, Floor Mounted MongoosT-50 Grip on TM Cougar board, MFG Crosswind, Track IR
hubson Posted November 19, 2012 Author Posted November 19, 2012 :) Not really.. I'll end up with all outer sounds muted and that is no go. The proper solution would be the fix given in this thread for FC2: http://forums.eagle.ru/showthread.php?t=51765 It doesn't work in the DCSWorld however.
Kuky Posted November 19, 2012 Posted November 19, 2012 Well geees, of course, if you put all sounds to zero they will be muted, so how about you put them 1/2 way or something, then they won't be muted PC specs: Windows 11 Home | Asus TUF Gaming B850-Plus WiFi | AMD Ryzen 7 9800X3D + LC 360 AIO | MSI RTX 5090 LC 360 AIO | 55" Samsung Odyssey Gen 2 | 64GB PC5-48000 DDR5 | 1TB M2 SSD for OS | 2TB M2 SSD for DCS | NZXT C1000 Gold ATX 3.1 1000W | TM Cougar Throttle, Floor Mounted MongoosT-50 Grip on TM Cougar board, MFG Crosswind, Track IR
Megagoth1702 Posted November 19, 2012 Posted November 19, 2012 dcs world\config\sound.lua -- set up cockpit types sound['cockpit_world'] = { ['A-10C'] = { gain = 0.35, lowpass = 1000 }, ['P-51D'] = { gain = 0.18, lowpass = 3500 }, The "gain" parameter usually sets up loudness. As you can see the p51 apparently has a better sealed cockpit, which seems weird to me. Also there is no SU25 option... Mhh. Whatever. :) Lower "gain" and you will have less external stuff in the cockpit. I THINK this is how it works. Try it out. 1 [sIGPIC][/sIGPIC] System specs:2500k @ 4.6 GHz 8GB RAM HD7950 OC'd Win7 x64 Posting tracks to make your DCS better - attention bump incoming!
hubson Posted November 19, 2012 Author Posted November 19, 2012 Yeah it is a good direction Megagoth. I tried that, it doesn't affect FC3 aircrafts though. Adding new line: ['F-15c'] = { gain=... doesn't work too.
Megagoth1702 Posted November 19, 2012 Posted November 19, 2012 Then I have no idea man. :( Try to PM c0ff about it maybe? He is an awesome dude, always trying to help. Try F_15 instead of F-15c In config\view\view.lua it says: CameraViewAngleLimits[F_15] = {20.0, 140.0} So probably this is the right name for the F_15? ED Team c0ff Posted November 21, 2012 ED Team Posted November 21, 2012 (edited) The name is "F-15C" - note the letter case. To avoid clashing with autoupdater, I suggest adding modifications through Saved Games\DCS\Config\autoexec.cfg: Create the file if necessary and append something along these lines: if sound and sound['cockpit_world'] then sound['cockpit_world']['F-15C'] = { gain = xxx, lowpass = yyy } end Edited November 21, 2012 by c0ff corrected the example Dmitry S. ED Team c0ff Posted November 21, 2012 ED Team Posted November 21, 2012 (edited) Can this be done for the SU-27 c0ff? It works for any aircraft (obviously, human-controllable only). You just need to know the name. Scripts\Database\planes\* is your friend here. EDIT: aircraft only. Other unit types aren't supported yet. Edited November 21, 2012 by c0ff Not any unit. 1 Dmitry S. Megagoth1702 Posted November 21, 2012 Posted November 21, 2012 Mh, this does not seem to work the same way for graphics.cfg mods. if graphics then MaxFPS = 5; end [sIGPIC][/sIGPIC] System specs:2500k @ 4.6 GHz 8GB RAM HD7950 OC'd Win7 x64 Posting tracks to make your DCS better - attention bump incoming!
