Black Clouds Leading To Grey Textures

Hey Guys

Not seen this anywhere, so thought I would create a thread for it!

Does anyone else have the problem of, when entering cloud the whole screen turns black? The outside camera view goes completely grey, I had to dive down below 5500 to get out of the clouds and then look around to eventually the normal colours slid back into place!

Running a ATI 6950. CAT 12.11 drivers!

Thanks

I just had this happen last night for the first time.

Using Catalyst 12.10 with an AMD HD 7870.

This never happened in DCS World prior to the update/FC3.

Not sure what the trigger or the escape was (clouds makes sense though), as I had to go to external view, then maneuvered 90 degrees, then got rid of black over my windshield/front half of F-15C.

I thought it had to do with the angle to the sun since turning 90 degrees got me out of the problem, but perhaps I moved into and out of a cloud?

Will take screenshots of the AMD and in-game settings later, but I am running the AMD application profiles and have the in-game settings on High.

OK, I can 100% reproduce the problem and have identified a setting associated with it (though it is not FC3):

1) Fly the P-51D instant action mission take off Batumi.

2) Climb up and veer a little right into the nearest cloud.

3) Observe solid black texture on cockpit glass and externally observe texture issues around cockpit and prop.

There was no setting in the AMD Catalyst driver that affected this result.

Turned DCS Graphics Option for HDR from "Normal" to "Off" and the problem went away.

Restored HDR to "Normal" and problem returned.

I am not sure if this problem existed before the last DCS upgrade nor am I sure if the problem existed before the last time I updated by AMD Catalyst driver.

It appears to be some form of glare being incorrectly rendered.

Thanks for the report eagle..

I'll turn off HDR when I get home and verify that it fixes the problem.

I will also test different drivers and see if I reproduce it with them also..

Just bought fc3 last night, aw man I was so disappointed. But it is still in beta and that's what we are here for...

Can confirm, that turning HDR off does indeed sort the issue out for me!

I had set the ATI CCC to application settings, still grey out. Set HDR off and fixed the problem, is there a log I can post so you guys can see what's wrong?
