Posted November 16, 2005 Posted November 16, 2005 I have a 6800GT running with an Asus MB with AMD64 3200+ CPU. With the latest Nvidia drivers (81.xx), I get texture corruptions in clouds under certain weather, time, cloud density settings. When I revert back to my trusty 66.93 drivers, I have no such problems. I really want to update my drivers becaues running on such old drivers (66.93) is affecting my other games. I can reproduce the texture corruption using the SU25T quick start mission. Just start the mission and fly level and look at the clouds, it happens about 99% of the time with the 81.xx drivers found in the Nvidia site. When I revert to 66.93, I have no problems (for months now). Attached is a screenshot.
Brit_Radar_Dude Posted November 16, 2005 Posted November 16, 2005 Sounds like Nvidia have released another set of borked 6xxx drivers then. I seem to recall problems with a driver release about 4(?) months ago - can't recall the version. [sIGPIC][/sIGPIC] Sorry Death, you lose! It was Professor Plum....
Guest ruggbutt Posted November 16, 2005 Posted November 16, 2005 Fish, I have the same processor and an Asus board, and a 6800GT. And guess what? I have the exact same things happen with the new (85 series) drivers. I reverted back to the 77.77 drivers and everything is ok again. The 77.73's that came with BF2 are good to go too.
curli Posted November 16, 2005 Posted November 16, 2005 I'm 6800 gt with 81.87 drivers.... I'm not a corrupt cloud textures http://www.checksix-forums.com/showthread.php?p=433637#post433637 PS:Sorry for my pooor English a+
curli Posted November 16, 2005 Posted November 16, 2005 What your seeting graphic??? Aniso and antialiasing?? Me 4x for antialiasing and 2x aniso.
airea Posted November 16, 2005 Posted November 16, 2005 I have sandiego 3700 with leadtek 6800 gt and I have the same texture corruption in clouds with 85.xx drivers. I was planing to install the latest 85 series driver but I dont think that a newer driver could fix the problem, as newer drivers are maximized for newer 7800 gpus...
NEODARK Posted November 16, 2005 Posted November 16, 2005 yup, its the drivers on the 8X.XX range that cause it. Im on a 6800Ultra Extreme and I get the same exact thing, going back to 77.xx fixes it, but breaks other games I have, so I just deal with it. :(
Guest ruggbutt Posted November 16, 2005 Posted November 16, 2005 I'm running 4AA, 4AF 1600x1200. It happens at 1280x1024 too.
kato217 Posted November 17, 2005 Posted November 17, 2005 If you haven't done so already, try setting your color depth to 32 bit in game rather than 16 bit. That fixed the clouds with my GeForce 6800. Didn't have this issue with my old ATI card. Dharma Posted November 17, 2005 Posted November 17, 2005 I saw the same problem on GF6800 AGP video card. I tried Forceware version 78.01 , 78.05, 81.85, 81.87, and new 81.94. This problem occurs In 81.xx driver, but not occurs in 78.xx driver. I always use default setting of Forceware, 1280x1024 resolution, and "High" setting in Lock-on display option. I tried to change Forceware settings (e.g. Filters, AA, optimization), display options (e.g. Texture), or BIOS settings (e.g. AGP mode, Fast write), but problem still occuers. According to old replies, this problem seems to occurs in GF6800 system only. I have old GeForceFX 5900XT card, I'll try this. (If I can find the time...:icon_frow )
Posted November 17, 2005 Author Posted November 17, 2005 thanks for the responses. At least I know I'm not the only one with the issue. Anyway, the reason I the 66.93 is because it has the best performance for my other sim, Pacific Fighters. The 78xx series drivers cause stuttering in Pacific Fighters so that is the reason I use 66.93. Anyway, hope somebody fixes this issue.
Sleek Posted November 17, 2005 Posted November 17, 2005 yea i have the same bug here too..but thankfully not that often..bit frustrating to say the least! Be Good..Be Strong..:drink: ;)
Dharma Posted November 17, 2005 Posted November 17, 2005 On my system, this bug always occurs in Su-33 training mission (Carrier Launch and Trap). This occures when cloud sdensity is high, but I'd not seen in Su-27 Introduction Mission (very dense clouds!)...
curli Posted November 17, 2005 Posted November 17, 2005 Very sorry for my english....... Ok , i'm download the new drivers for my 6800GT (81.94) , The bug is here. But with the 81.87 the bug is not here..... Desinstallation the 81.94 , and use the "regedit" for deleted the "traces" of the drivers. Reboot and reinstallation 81.87 , the bug is out with the drivers (for me)...... http://www.3dchips-fr.com/fichiers/352/forceware_v81_87_win2k_xp.html Good fly all.
Posted November 18, 2005 Author Posted November 18, 2005 81.87 has the same problem for me. It's got the could texture corruption.
curli Posted November 18, 2005 Posted November 18, 2005 81.87 has the same problem for me. It's got the could texture corruption. You are high seeting in lockon????? Test water seeting "medium"???? a+
Posted November 19, 2005 Author Posted November 19, 2005 Curli Said: You are high seeting in lockon????? Test water seeting "medium"???? ----------------------------------------------- I would like this fixed without having to downgrade my graphics settings. The whole reason I bought a beefy graphics card is to run beefy graphics. Thanks for your suggestion though.
Guest ruggbutt Posted November 23, 2005 Posted November 23, 2005 Moose, it's definitely drivers. I got them all the time before I changed back to earlier drivers. It used to piss LOC off cuz I'd have to alt/tab a couple times for them to disappear. I never got them with the 77.77's I'm using. I just upgraded my rig so I'm gonna check newer drivers for the 7800GT.
Guest ruggbutt Posted November 23, 2005 Posted November 23, 2005 No worries! Like I said, gonna play w/the 7800GT and report in.
Posted December 6, 2005 Author Posted December 6, 2005 Hello. Anyone from ED developement team would like to comment on this issue? Is there any ETA for a fix? This problem happens witht the latest Nvidia drivers 81.95. I am using default driver settings and no over-clocking. Please let us know if there is anything ED is doing to address this issue. Thanks.
Guest ruggbutt Posted December 6, 2005 Posted December 6, 2005 The 81.95's suck. I kept getting BSD's in FEAR with them. I reverted to the 81.87's and all is well. In fact, my error message for the BSD was an nv4 error (video). And this is on a 7800GT.
ViperVJG73 Posted December 6, 2005 Posted December 6, 2005 I have something of the kind not ever seen! :D Best Regards Viper System: Intel Core i7-4790, 3,6GHz, 16GB RAM, 128GB SSD, 2TB HDD, NVIDIA GeForce GTX 960 2GB GDDR5, TM HOTAS Warthog;(MSFFB2 for testing); TrackIR4 +Track Clip Pro; Windows 10 Pro.
Brit_Radar_Dude Posted December 7, 2005 Posted December 7, 2005 anything ED is doing to address this issue. Wouldn't this question be better put on a Nvidia forum as it is their problem (and not ED's) for releasing a borked set of drivers ? [sIGPIC][/sIGPIC] Sorry Death, you lose! It was Professor Plum....
mitch789 Posted December 13, 2005 Posted December 13, 2005 Help, please. I've read this thread when last nvidia drivers already installed on my PC. You must set "HAZE" to Advanced and "LIGHTS" to All. Then restart Lock On and see the lights are on!
