v2tec Posted November 18, 2012 Posted November 18, 2012 Would be great to have an simulation for Aircrafts which supports two players (optional), e.g. F16 or Apache. I remember the time when I played the good old Apache with a friend. One was flying an the other controlled weapon systems. Well, for the singleplayer mode or training an tricky AI is required to take the other part. An F16 in DCS style (new HD graphics, etc.) would be great. I believe the AI issue is actually the main reason they have not gone to a multi-seat aircraft. There are a LOT of issue that come up with having a AI controlled co-pilot. Just an example, your coming up on an engagement, your in the pilot seat, can see a priority target, but your weapons guy is firing at something else. Then what? Or, your the gunner, and you see something you need to get a little closer to to shoot at but the pilot turns and banks off some other direction to avoid something, or is just running its waypoints. Obviously there are flaws in the situations, but you get the point. NOW, that being said.. They are working on this issue and I believe they announced that the Uh1 will be the first aircraft to have multiseat capability. It will NOT be launching with that capability at first, but it will be added in later. CHEERS! From what I understand, they aim to release the UH-1H with multiple positions available, but no multi-player on same aircraft at first (intended to be added later). 2nd French Fighter Squadron

The chopper will be the first, and then I guess they will try and implement it if it's something they see as viable. I believe you will be able to swap seats, or you will be able to do everything from either seat, not sure, this has not been clarified, but they have not said anything about having two people using one plane yet. Unless I'm wrong, then please do link to source. Obviously we all want to fly the F-15E with a friend in the front or backseat. I would give my right kidney for that chance. So the two cockpits are identically and you have to decide who is flying, like a cessna, right? Anyway, would be great to have some more detailed aircrafts, but you never know what is coming out. They better work hard on it! All the aircraft on that list the devs of those aircraft plan to make 2 seater mp. A problem might be though with 2xF-15Es the WSO/Pilot mp interface both devs may want to make common mp code for both so people using either mod can still fly together as pilot/WSO. As for the UH1Y that has 3 slots pilot/copilot and door gunner. Again this mod the devs might want to release a patch within DCS World since downed pilots can be picked up and work the door gun or sit in the co-pilot seat but not fly unless they had the UH1Y addon like we do in Arma2. They mentioned that they will not be focusing on that at all, until they make the aircraft first and release it. Later on they will explore the idea if viable. I'm loosly paraphrasing, but they made it sound like it's not on their list of top priorities. I'm sitting there thinking to myself that they must be friggin crazy if they don't. The way to take this SIM to the next level is to add two seaters. Look at some of the other titles that managed it: Battlefield series (sorry for the comparison :) and ArmA to mention a couple I've played and enjoyed. The 2 seat capability in Cobras / Apaches / Hinds and Su-34 / F-15E / F-18G / A-6 / F-4, would be amazing. Obviously the level of modeling and detail for systems logic would be intense and I think one of the major show-stoppers is intel, frankly. Like you though, I think it would be so worth it. I agree with EDs direction in getting Fighter out the door, with the F-15C in the new AFM. That's a great start. But then it would seem obvious to make it the F-15E and model the backseater and all the avionics back there IMO. Maybe a 3rd party dev will save us?
