In the a-10 there is a volume knob for that.

 

Lowering "helmet" volume in the audio options lowers radio as well.

perhaps I miss something here, but annoying for a flight member trying to save your a$$ or an AWACS that informs a radar-less A-10C about incoming bogeys is not exactly annoying. I would call it helpful:D

 

EDIT: on the A-10C just lower vhfAM volume for AWACS and buddy flights. If your wingman talks to much in single player, simply lower the volume of the UHF or switch it off, but I won't recommend the later...
