FZG_Immel Posted November 25, 2012 Posted November 25, 2012 ok. I have had a HD crash, so i am reinstalling everything. I am installing my DCS world, and when I want to install the BS2 update module, it asks me for an BS1 install.. my BS1 install is still present on one of my HD, but of course, there are no more registers in windows... I have my BS1 key, and Disk at hand.. is there a way to install the BS2 module without having to bother and install BS1 again ? thanks a lot [sIGPIC]https://forums.eagle.ru/signaturepics/sigpic70550_3.gif[/sIGPIC] Asus Z390-H - SSD M.2 EVO 970 - Intel I9 @5.0ghz - 32gb DDR4 4000 - EVGA 3090 - Cougar FSSB + Virpil WRBRD + Hornet Stick - Thrustmaster TPR Pedal + WinWing MIP + Orion + TO and CO pannels - Track IR5
PepperMint Posted November 25, 2012 Posted November 25, 2012 I reinstalled the whole game 1 week ago ... and the installation of the BS2 module for DCS World didn't ask me for a previous version ... I guess BS2 is a stand alone game by the way ... try to download the BS2 full module (not the update module) from the ED website [sIGPIC][/sIGPIC]
EtherealN Posted November 25, 2012 Posted November 25, 2012 Peppermint, there are two versions of Black Shark 2, one that is an independent product and does not require Black Shark 1, and one that is an upgrade license; this one is sold at half price but does require Black Shark 1 to be present during installation. A upgrade license does not work with the "full" module. The upgrade module does not change Black Shark 1 into Black Shark 2. It does not install on top of it or anything like that. It is simply a separate distribution of the exact same product, but offered to Black Shark 1 owners at half price. FZG_Immel Posted November 25, 2012 Author Posted November 25, 2012 rgr. I understand that. I am just wondering if I could create a register key manually, and enter my own licence key there, to install my BS2 update module on world, rather than install BS1 again... What bother me with BS1 is all the crap (starforce&co) it will install on my computer. I have a legit disk and key of BS1, I can prove it anytime. I just would like to install my update module of BS2 without reinstalling BS1 on my clean/fresh computer [sIGPIC]https://forums.eagle.ru/signaturepics/sigpic70550_3.gif[/sIGPIC] Asus Z390-H - SSD M.2 EVO 970 - Intel I9 @5.0ghz - 32gb DDR4 4000 - EVGA 3090 - Cougar FSSB + Virpil WRBRD + Hornet Stick - Thrustmaster TPR Pedal + WinWing MIP + Orion + TO and CO pannels - Track IR5
Rusty_M Posted November 25, 2012 Posted November 25, 2012 It doesn't install starforce, it's just an online activation, the same as BS2, FC2, WH, P51, FC3 and Combined Arms (well there are minor differences, but either way, those all have online activations, rather than driver-based starforce protection.) The world is going mad. Me? I'm doing fine! http://www.twitch.tv/rusty_the_robot https://www.youtube.com/user/RustyRobotGaming
JHzlwd Posted November 25, 2012 Posted November 25, 2012 These upgrades requiring a precedent can be a pain in the neck. When configuring a new machine the other day I got messed up with the various versions, wasting an hour or so trying to re-establish BS2. The solution? Just hauled out the credit card, paid for and downloaded the full 1.2.2 version. It's only $40 bucks and you can delete all that cr-p you needed before. What a relief. Quite frankly I find all these free/cheap upgrades (for other products as well) seldom worth the hassle keeping track, installing and fooling with multiple authentications. To nitpick a bit: it actually is "starforce". But you are correct in that it is not "the" starforce people remember from old. Starforce is a brand, not a specific solution. Worrying about the brand name is akin to saying that the Fulcrum has no missiles because the MiG-3 didn't - just because they're both "migs". Anyhow, regarding what the protection system is able to do to your computer: nothing. Literally. It has less authority over your computer and operating system than your web browser, msn client etcetera.
