brontolo Posted December 16, 2012 Posted December 16, 2012 Hi all, it's normal that AI bypass the destroyed bridge and crosses the river? (the route is composed by 2 WP, both on road). Don't think it's too smart? How can I stop it? Tks Brontolo Brontolo VIAF
Nate--IRL-- Posted December 16, 2012 Posted December 16, 2012 The AI can ford smaller rivers - this behaviour is intentional. Nate Ka-50 AutoPilot/stabilisation system description and operation by IvanK- Essential Reading
chromium Posted December 16, 2012 Posted December 16, 2012 I think that it's a bug correction instead, cause in the past even amphibiuos units can't bypass bridges even with the smallest water surfaces. If you try with larger water surfaces or with non-amphibious unit you will see that bypassing is not possible: but the units instead of "holding there" will find the fastest road route to the last WP and re-route along it. @Nate: sniped :P Author of DSMC, mod to enable scenario persistency and save updated miz file Stable version & site: https://dsmcfordcs.wordpress.com/ Openbeta: https://github.com/Chromium18/DSMC The thing is, helicopters are different from planes. An airplane by it's nature wants to fly, and if not interfered with too strongly by unusual events or by a deliberately incompetent pilot, it will fly. A helicopter does not want to fly. It is maintained in the air by a variety of forces in opposition to each other, and if there is any disturbance in this delicate balance the helicopter stops flying; immediately and disastrously.

I had noticed this. I also experienced off-road. Therefore the only way to stop the vehicles is a Advanced Waypoint Action? Tanks all for reply Brontolo VIAF
chromium Posted December 16, 2012 Posted December 16, 2012 no, you can also use a triggered AI action (similar to AWA) "hold", and link it to certain conditions, or use the mission scripting engine passing by MIST, or using SLmod :). Grimes Posted December 16, 2012 Posted December 16, 2012 Yeah before if you destroyed a bridge the AI would simply stop in place. Now they will find a way around it or if they have a vehicle in the group that can't ford the river they will find a new route to cross the bridge. The right man in the wrong place makes all the difference in the world.
