CrypticVillain Posted December 18, 2012 Posted December 18, 2012 Hey does anyone have a profile or at least some guidelines I can use for a programming a profile for the Saitek X52 (not pro version) for DCS world SU-25t. I am experienced at flight sims and cant wait to get into DCS so I'm trying the free one but unfortunately I'm having trouble setting up my joystick and I cant play the game without it. Ive downloaded several profiles but sadly none have worked please help!!! :(
alexej21 Posted December 18, 2012 Posted December 18, 2012 Hi, I have X52 Pro. What exactly is your problem? Are you able to use your joystick without profile, only using game controls ? [sIGPIC][/sIGPIC] .....Vladimir, let's go to Sukhoi.......
Col. Clark GRUNT Half Posted December 18, 2012 Posted December 18, 2012 Hey does anyone have a profile or at least some guidelines I can use for a programming a profile for the Saitek X52 (not pro version) for DCS world SU-25t. I am experienced at flight sims and cant wait to get into DCS so I'm trying the free one but unfortunately I'm having trouble setting up my joystick and I cant play the game without it. Ive downloaded several profiles but sadly none have worked please help!!! :( This is how I do it (in three major steps): I - Start DCSW single player. - Go to options, controls, Su-25T - Select All (display all settings) - save your profile (as it still might be the default one), keep a backup outside the DCSW-Tree-Structure - click on that X52 column and "clear category". confirm. - create a HTML file and print it (c. 5 pages), bottom right "make html" - save the profile as reference (e.g. DATE-nojoystick.lua) - exit by clicking OK II - Create a simple mission with waypoints, some trucks and a landing. - Fly this mission using stick controls and keyboard presses (yes, you can handle Shkval slew, lock, weapons select all by keyboard) - WRITE down your keypresses and structure them by priority. - e.g. I setup the handling, navigation, landing first before I even dare to get agressive. If you cannot handle the plane, you wont make it to a dummy target and back. - attack easy targets: gun, bomb (single/salvo), rockets (single/salvo), guided rockets write down your keypresses III - Open the Saitek Profiler - Create POV-Directions, Keypresses, Modifiers, using the written notes. - check in game if it works, adjust axis tuning in controls of DCSW but keypresses in Saitek Profiler - do check the controls/all since there might be "red tabs" indicating errorous entries that need correction (most likely double keystrokes). All red tabs need to be corrected since they might effecting other inputs (e.g. the three-keys-of-instant-death) in a nutshell: delete x52 column in controls as you manage the keystrokes in saitek profiler. tune the axis in dcsw/controls/axis commands. Feedback welcome. If you feel like flying the SU-25 organized (focus Su-25 not "T") PM me for membership in 314 ShAP Mozdok. C. CrypticVillain Posted December 18, 2012 Author Posted December 18, 2012 Yeah defiantly can use the joystick just fine. Ran a quick mission lifted the bird up flew around a bit did a few maneuvers fired some of the weapons(accidentally idk how I launched those rockets ). But my issue is programming the stick I first tried downloading a profile but none worked then I tried making one myself and I was just lost compared to sims like X-plane and FSX I'm in a whole new world so I just felt overwhelmed a bit basically just need some basic tips and guidelines for stick programming and general gameplay
CrypticVillain Posted December 18, 2012 Author Posted December 18, 2012 Yeah thanks Clark very much appreciate this should help a lot. The very basics of flight I have down and am already plugging in the profile simple stuff really; its the weapons and electronic systems that have me at odds the tutorial for the SU-25t isn't very good either feels like a robot spitting instructions to you but with no practice time. He's just like "here this is how you do this! Now go do it with out any actual training or practice just a video" lol and yeah defiantly up for organized missions but I'm assuming you guys are running FC2 or 3 either way I only have the free dcs world and if I was going to spend money it would either be A-10 module or FC3 :)
SyntaxError Posted December 18, 2012 Posted December 18, 2012 (edited) Have you got the crash/freezing problem with the SST software? I got the X52 non pro and can't set a profile up in SST due to the problems. All I really want it to have the slider function as the airbreak control. I'd recommend that you bypass setting up a profile with the crappy Saitek software and set it up inside DCS World instead. Makes it easier to jump right into and fly. CrypticVillain Posted December 18, 2012 Author Posted December 18, 2012 No I haven't had this issue at least not with the STT my issue is that the profiles I've downloaded simply do not work when i load them into the stick and launch dcs none of the controls do as there supposed to...:(
Bexx0r Posted March 18, 2013 Posted March 18, 2013 I recently abandoned Saitek's SST software, because it really often bailed out and lost the loaded profile. I was using SFJackBauer's profile, but I guess in my case the slider for airbrakes was the problem. Without SST, everything works out fine. I am only missing the use of the ministick, which I cannot bind to HOTAS slew, ingame. Does anyone know how to overcome that? Cheers! Bexx0r ......................................................... 159th_Falcon Posted March 18, 2013 Posted March 18, 2013 The fact that a lot of people are not patient enough to set things up properly doesn't make the software crap. Its working FINE. I am controlling all planes in DCS using the SST profiles whit an exception for the A-10C. (which also uses a profile for example the speed brakes) If you need any specific help whit setting it up let me know and ill tell ya how to do it. Also i suggest to take use of the 3 different modes your offered in the profiler. (6 including shift state whit the pinky button) i personally use up to 5 modes using shift states for a given airframe by category; Ground handling and take-off NAV for basic flying around and navigating Air to Air for Air-Air combat Air to Ground for putting warheads to foreheads Aerobatics As for the controls, its quite finicky to set em up right. And i noticed that especially key combinations are tricky to get right in DCS World. So you probably have to redo the profiles to get em to work since they were most likely made for FC2 or standalone versions of DCS. For example, some buttons i had to assign in the profiler as "advanced command" to get it to work. Anyway's, the SST software is great and very useful if your willing to put some time into making profiles. If not, by all means use the ingame menu, but you will be severely limited by the possibilitys and run out of buttons soon. Bexx0r Posted March 18, 2013 Posted March 18, 2013 Hi Falcon, the fact that SFJackBauer's profile is quite popular around here and that many ppl use it, leads me to think that it is set up, properly. There are basically only two functions mapped in it: Speedbrakes on the minislider of the throttle HOTAS slew on the ministick of the throttle That's all. Actually, I don't think that you can make many mistakes, mapping those functions, but if you would like to have a look, I could send it over via PM, once I'm home from work. See, only when SST is running, at some point (I cannot pinpoint the trigger for this behaviour) I get the LED flickering, then the LEDs go out and shortly later come back on, but the profile's gone. Without SST, everything is fine and I can fly for hours without any glitches. I still say it's SST, and I am not the only one. I bet there are a lot of ppl much smarter than me, having the same problem, although their profiles are properly set. Cannot speak for other planes than A-10C as I only fly that one. If you happen to have an A-10 profile, maybe you can share it, so I can try that one. Cheers! Bexx0r ......................................................... 159th_Falcon Posted March 18, 2013 Posted March 18, 2013 (edited) Sure, not a whole lot to see in the A10C profile i'm using though. Only thing i added are keybindings for the ministick so i can use that to slew the TGP around. For the rest, i have happened to used SFJackbauers setup as well. (just took over the assignments thouh, made the profile myself). Anyway's, profile in the attachment. Not sure if i hearth of the problem your describing before. Been a while i had any troubles myself. Ill see if i can dig trough the SAITEK support forum though. Once you manage to get an account there its quite an useful place. ***EDIT*** Ok, just found something. Not sure if its related though. ON the x52 you can hold a button and then switch profiles using one the HAT switches. When you use this button, it starts to flash, as well as the light of the relevant HAT switch. So maybe your using this so called "clutch" button unintended? Personally i hate it and disabled it, so i can use it as a regular button. To do this rightclick the HOTAS icon, and hit "control panel" Go to "MFD" tab and in bottom right UNcheck both checkboxes called; "Enable Clutch Mode" and "Latched Clutch Button" Don't forget to hit "apply" once done. No guarantees but this might just fix it. Also, if you look in the "about" tab, what version numbers are listed there?DCS A-10C.rar Edited March 18, 2013 by 159th_Falcon [sIGPIC][/sIGPIC] The keeper of all mathematical knowledge and the oracle of flight modeling.:)
Bexx0r Posted March 18, 2013 Posted March 18, 2013 Hey Falcon, thanks for your reply! :) Ministick is the only thing I miss now that I have everything mapped in the game. I already checked all relevant threads in the Saitek forum back until about 2008 but couldn't find a solution. Hottest candidate was the 16-digit-solution, but that didn't do the trick. At some point I also thought it could be the clutch button, so I unchecked it, but it wasn't. Apart from that I never touched it - not even by accident. So that's a dead end, either. Maybe it is really the speedbrakes on the slider, giving continuous inputs, although I always ensure to put it back to middle position. I will check that, later. Thanks for your profile. I will definitely give it a go. Version number for SST is 7.0.24.8 and X52 drivers are the latest for Win7 64Bit. I also had the same problem with the prior SST version. Cheers!
