Multiple monitors

Hello,

No matter what i try i cant get the monitor setup as how i want it to be.

My plan was to have 3 mainscreens running DCS 3x [ 1920x1080 ] 1x27 inch 2x23 inch i think DCS and windows sees these screens as same size .

And i have a touchscreen witch should run Helios. 1x [ 1366x768]

The Screens r side by side and connected with eyfinity.

i modified the Monitorsetup lua file:

_ = function(p) return p; end;

name = _('Triples');

Description = 'Configuration with 3 identical monitors each with its own camera'

PM from Clyber:

Hello Peter P

[...]

Have a total of 6 monitor. Single line setup [array]

3 main monitors for Dcs and 3 monitors for Helios.

The 3 main screens 27 inch resol 1920x1080.

The next [ 4th ] in the row for helios is a 32 inch monitor 1366x768

Before i used eyefinity but ive read in the forum i guess one of your posts

That eyefinity doesnt support multiple monitors with diffrent resolution

So i dowloaded softth but i dont know how to configure it

The 4th and 5th montor are 2x 23inch monitor resolution 1920x1080

At the end i want the main 3 monitors with the 3 camera view running Dcs.

On the 4th i want to render the skval and abris

And the other 2 monitors are solely helios monitors so dcs total span should be till the 4th monitor

Hope this info is enough for you to create files for my setup r instruct/guide me through as good as possible . Iam not exerpieced in this so some help woul be nice

Regards Clyber

That's finally something I can work with. - But a Picture of your Desktop-properties would help immense in the first place and you wouldn't need so much words to describe it like you did in your PM.

Now:

OK, Please also attach/load-up the DXdiag.txt I asked for and please visit this link:

http://www.mechatronics4you.com/wp-content/uploads/tool/test.html

, hit the "refresh" button beneath Copy this to your "config.SoftTHconfig" file:

with your Monitors exactly arranged like described in your PM above.

and post me the code that appeared.

I need this info to create a working SoftTH setting for your setup.

Thanks for the DxDiag! ...ButI still waiting for this info:

and please visit this link:

http://www.mechatronics4you.com/wp-c...tool/test.html

, hit the "refresh" button beneath Copy this to your "config.SoftTHconfig" file:

with your Monitors exactly arranged like described in your PM above.

and post me the code that appeared.

About this eyefinty problem:

this is the dxdiag file and the desktop properties you asked for

I have also a problem here ...eyefinity doesnt want to combine the 3x 27 inch monitors as how i want to. Instead of one panoramic portrait it gives me 3 copies [duplicates]

what am i doing wrong here the screens r the same size so i dont understand its problem.

I see that you have a 5700 series and a AMD Radeon HD 6800 Series card in your system.

Preparation:

First : Make sure that the three monitors that you want to group in a portrait -eyefinity are attached at the 6800.

Than first turn them 90 degrees in the desktop properties.

Now you should be able to create this portait-eyefinity3-group.

To give you a better troubleshooting support I need a exact step-by step(preferable with screen-shots) explanation what you have clicked/done in the CCC.

No....... turning the screens 90 deg didnt work. What did work for me was to group the monitors one by one instead of all 3 together but later i figured something was wrong with windows and ccc software so i did a clean install thats why i i send you this new Dxdiag file.

Also i send you the files you asked for but in 2 options.

1. one with the monitors grouped [ streched]

2. the other with individual monitor setup [ row]

hope its usefull for you.

i figured it may saves you some work/time to send both.

Thanks for the files - Now I probably know more about your system than yoursef ;).

,and I'm now able to write a working Monitoesetup.lua thet works for you in

A) Windowed mode

and

B) in Fullscreen by utilising SoftTH.

But to use the files that I will write for you - you must frist be able to set monitor 1,2,3 in portrait.

So: one question still remains:

You are not able to configure your desktop like this ??

clyber.png

I don't get why you aren't able to turn the Monitors ...,

Please try again. - it must work.

clyber2.jpg

(BTW: Please stop to send me every-time a PM, just to tell me basically that you posted in this thread.

I want the info in one place and not spread among different browser windows. - you have to know: You are not the only one that does asking me for help - and it gets sometimes confusing for me to extract the latest info when I have to re-check different postings and PM's for the latest changes.

Anyway - don't worry that I can miss one of your postings. I'm subscribed to this thread and get a instant E-Mail notification if someone post in it.)

Relax man like i said iam nw here and didnt know you would receive an notification if i send a thread here on the forum so to make sure i send you a pm no need go bannanas ill keep it in mind.

Anyway ... yeah i can turn those screens around no problem i tought you wanted me to turn them just to get eyfinity working

Like i said i got it working in portrait mode all ready i just needed to attach the first 2 monitors and than he last monitor when initiate Eyefinity not all three at once and i used a passive kable type instead of all 3 active mini displayport to dvi but those problems were solved now i have it all in portrait using eyfinity Mode

But if You want me to turn those screens like your example [ 3 monitors 90 deg. And Monitor 4 on top of monitor 5] thats fine but why ?.. and what next coz its difficult working like that hahahaha.

I'm not going bananas - and I also I don't want you to do anything.

You asked me for help . - and this is what I'm trying to do.

And I just told you which info I need and how.

And I'm able to help when I finally know your final desktop layout.

It makes no sense to write a configuration for you if you change it again the other day.

yeah i can turn those screens around no problem i tought you wanted me to turn them just to get eyfinity working

To make it short: Arrange your monitors like you want and its suitable for you.

Once you have nailed it down , come back and give-me that info.

Than I'm able to write a working monitor.lua for you.

Edit:

But right now I'm not able to do that , as you changing your plans with every new posting/PM.

See:

Post #1:

My plan was to have 3 mainscreens running DCS 3x [ 1920x1080 ] 1x27 inch 2x23 inch i think DCS and windows sees these screens as same size .

And i have a touchscreen witch should run Helios. 1x [ 1366x768]

and now you write this:

Like i said i got it working in portrait mode all ready i just needed to attach the first 2 monitors and than he last monitor when initiate Eyefinity not all three at once
I hope you can see that I still don't have a clue how you want the DCS exports and Camera view layout exactly placed. - it changed now Three times.

Your info is very vague and sketchy.

Lets start at the beginning again:

Please tell me first what each screen should show in the end.Please don't do it like in this

Example: "I want at the left the DCS camrea and Helios on the right touch-screen...."

Please do it like this so I can work with it:

Example: " I want to have the DCS In-cockpit view shown at my monitors 1,2,3, that are turned in portrait in a total res of 3240x1920.

Than I want have additional exports like the MFCD's and RWR, UHF repeater, (..,ect) Shown on my touch-screen ( monitor 4) ...

I want to use it with this Helios layout: > add screenshot of Helios layout, 1:1 in pixel size< ...

(and so on...) "

I hope you get my point. When I don't have the Right numbers and X/Y coordinates of your desktop layout ,I have no basis to calculate a working configuration for you.

Monitor Setup

Hello

Now this was the reason why i also leave pm,s for you because for days ive send you an new thread but no response so iam not sure if you know i posted you the new info or maybe you got mad for some reason or maybe your too busy i understand your a busy man but can you pls let me know if this info was sufficient or if i miss something pls ? Iam still waiting for you i ve tried to give as much info as i could i hope you understand also that i cant provide all the info as i dont have helios ready yet i dont have the layout finished i am working on it but not done yet. i tought most important would be to know that DCS should span across the first 4 monitors the rest i thought wasnt that relevant sinds those have nothing to do with

dcs really.

But i might be wrong so if you need more info please ask. Tell me how or what info to provide.

dont think iam an expert and i should now what info to send coz iam not. with a little guidance tough, i can get that info for you

Regards, Clyber

Sorry that I didn't answered as fast you expected it.

The reason is that I didn't had time up to now to have a real close look at your problem(s).

And I fear that I will find time to think about what Monitor-configuration would be best for you first at the upcoming weekend.

Hi,

Have you made up your mind how to arrange the monitors for the Simulation-view up to now?

????

Here are basically 5 different choices:

1. 3x portrait - and Helios at the rest

2. Portrait/Landscape/Portrait with SoftH and Helios:

IMG_1492.JPG

Portrait/Landscape/Portrait:

Keep in mind than once you are finished with your construction that we can use this "unused" space that I marked with red to get the different avionics exports on your other screens via SoftTH.

This by using the "Black" view-port trick: #12

weltsuggest.png

this is 1920x820 - sure:it will not be "HD" - but much more than we need for readable gauges and MFCDs and radio exports.

The great advantage is that you can still stay with a total 4080x1920 in-game render while spreading the "avionics info" at the other screens.

3.

A "T" shape set-up that enables you to manipulate the cockpit directly - without the need of Helios:

This can also be done with a Portrait/Landscape/Portrait set-up and the touch-screen under the middle-monitor.

>>> Triple Screen + Touch - how would you set it up?

4.

3x Landscape with helios

screensetup5HZshot.jpg

5.four monitors as a cross

///////////////////////////////////////////////////////////////

And also read this:

"3 monitor" camera...

And I want you that you know about the basic concept of SoftTH.

>>> SoftTH NEWS

and also look following - so you are aware what's happening with your view,

when having set a FOV that is higher as your screens can cover

Hello,

How r u now. Yeah i know what i want even though you made it hard for me with those diffrent options.

I need the first option : 3 x portrait and the rest Helios.

Especially because my monitors r fixed in my simpit i cant turn them any more for lets say the second option.

the thirth option would be nice because here i would use the original DCS cockpit instead of Helios but i want the controle panels to be steady instead of moving around when i turn my head. and i guess when using Hud view only mode the cockpit panels would not be available.

maybe in the future i can use this it could be very handy when having problems with Helios.

the fourth option looks like the first . correct me if iam wrong but i guess the diffrence is helios is included in the three main screens. this is not that i want.

the fifth is no option.

So ill go with the first. i have some pics of my simpit i can send you but only in your pm. if you want to have a better understanding of my setup.

No the first option has the screens in portrait and the fourth option has them in landscape.

OK, Here are instructions and files for option 1:

1.

Arrange your desktop like this:

attachment.php?attachmentid=76233&stc=1&d=1358702104

Make sure '3' is your main-screen and attached to your most powerful GPU.

You can place '5' and '6 ' how you like, landscape or portrait- it doesn't mater - you can even move one of this monitors inside the red square so you would be able to export things like the CDU on them.

just make sure you let the arrangement of 3,1,2,4 intact.

2.

Copy the contend of the attached folder inside your DCS-world installation and overwrite.

It contains the Monitorsetup.lua and you will able to select it as "Clyber Export example" in the options.

And it also makes all necessary adjustments to switch on all available exports for the A-10C.

This is the code of the lua:

_  = function(p) return p; end;
name = _('Clyber Export example');
Description = 'Export example';

-- Put your values in , and delete all exports that you don't want to use !
-- You will have to determine the area for the MP/SP GUI

-- Position for Helios Export screen:
local Helios_Exports_X = 0
local Helios_Exports_Y = 1920

Viewports =
{
Center =
{
   x = 0;
   y = 0;
   width = 3240;
   height = 1920;
   viewDx = 0;
   viewDy = 0;
   aspect = 3240 / 1920;
    }
}

GUI=
   {
       x = 1080;
       y = 0;
       width = 1080;
       height = 1920;
   }

    y = 50 + Helios_Exports_Y;

}

RIGHT_MFCD =

    x = 1032 + Helios_Exports_X;

}

   }

       height = 300;
   }

    x = Helios_Exports_X;
    y = 450 + Helios_Exports_Y;
       width = 200;
       height = 200;
   }

CMSP_SCREEN =
   {
    x = 233 + Helios_Exports_X;
    y = 450 + Helios_Exports_Y;
       width = 200;
       height = 200;
   }

DIGIT_CLOCK =
   {
    x = 466 + Helios_Exports_X;
    y = 450 + Helios_Exports_Y;
       width = 200;
       height = 200;
   }

UHF_FREQUENCY_STATUS =
   {
    x = 699 + Helios_Exports_X;
    y = 450 + Helios_Exports_Y;
       width = 200;
       height = 200;
   }

UHF_PRESET_CHANNEL =
   {
    x = 932 + Helios_Exports_X;
    y = 450 + Helios_Exports_Y;
       width = 200;
       height = 200;
   }

UHF_REPEATER =
   {
    x = 1165 + Helios_Exports_X;
    y = 450 + Helios_Exports_Y;
       width = 200;
       height = 200;
   }

UIMainView = GUI

And this is a image how it will look:

attachment.php?attachmentid=76234&stc=1&d=1358702104

You can see that I already pre-placed all possible exports.

You will have to work out your needed size/placing yourself.

- I also forced to start DCS-Launcher always windowed in 1024x768 for better usage.

Make sure you start un-check the Full-screen option in DCS.

And choose 3240x2688 from the resolution drop down list.

(I edited the optionsdata.lua that it is a chose-able res now)

Last Note:

When you maybe move the monitor 4 in the X, maybe to place it the middle , under the Monitor 1:

You wont need to move all exports ! - just Set in the Clyber_Export_exampl.lua the new X coordinate by editing line #9 and changing the '0'.

local Helios_Exports_X = 0

OK, Here are instructions and files for eyefinity landscape:

1.

Arrange your desktop like this - make the eyefinity group your main-screen:

clyber2-1.jpg

And add the necessary Bezel adjustment to your Eyefinity group.

(you may ask yourself = what is bezel adjustment ?!

Have a look here >>> http://www.matrox.com/graphics/surroundgaming/en/product/bezel/

This will add pixels to you total res. and we need to put them into the *.lua. )

2.

Copy the contend of the attached folder inside your DCS-world installation and overwrite.

It contains the Monitorsetup.lua and you will able to select it as 'Clyber Export example - Eyefinity' in the options.

And it also makes all necessary adjustments to switch on all available exports for the A-10C.

    y = 450 + Helios_Exports_Y;
       width = 200;
       height = 200;
   }

UHF_REPEATER =

UIMainView = GUI

You need to add your Bezel size in this lua at line #15!!! :

-- Bezel = your Eyefinity group width minus 5760.

local Bezel = 0

And this is a image how it will look:

attachment.php?attachmentid=76543&stc=1&d=1359392032

You can see that I already pre-placed all possible exports.

You will have to work out your needed size/placing yourself.

Here is a "How to" : Dummies Guide for the “MonitorSetup.lua“

- I also forced to start DCS-Launcher always windowed in 1024x768 for better usage with the eyefinity group.

Make sure you start with un-checked Full-screen option in DCS.

And choose your right res! > 7126 + Bezel x 1080

Having problems to set the needed res ? >>>

Fix: adding a custom resolution to in-game options.

softth

May i ask why you didnt make it with softth. In one of your threads you said softth works far better , better fps and it allows for multiple monitors with diffrents sizes.

I also have some problems with eyefinity when enabled with more monitors it starts to flicker on one monitor so i tought maybe with softth that problem would be resolved because of the low frame rate.

Let me know what you think

Yes, you can ask.

First you should learn how to do it without SoftTH.

When you confident to run a set-up only in windowed mode and you know what you are doing. - Than you will have the basics to handle a program like softth and you will know why things don't work out and you will be able to backtrack what's wrong in your files.

- But when looking back the pages in this thread I doubt hat you able to handle this tasks up to now.

So please first start at the basics and learn to handle the fundamentals.

Second: I believe your GPU is strong enough to handle this output in Windowed mode at around 30+ FPS in most cases as long you stay with one view-port and don't crank up AA ,- stay with MSAAx2nd HDR off.

...and don't even think to use TSSAA.

Your CPU ( AMD FX-4100 Quad-Core Processor ~3.6GHz )will be the limiting factor.

So there is no real need to run/use SoftTH.

...We will see.

If all works out like expected:

Please make some self explanatory pictures of your pit,

and - if you don't mind - I will ad them to the Dummies Guide for the “MonitorSetup.lua“ as a additional chapter as example how to set-up a system with more than 2 monitors for most efficient usage without the need of SoftTH.

I also have some problems with eyefinity when enabled with more monitors it starts to flicker on one monitor so i tought maybe with softth that problem would be resolved because of the low frame rate.
and again from post #6:

'To give you a better troubleshooting support I need a exact step-by step(preferable with screen-shots) explanation what you have clicked/done in the CCC. '

As long no one knows in which settings and under which conditions this happened no one is able to give you a definite answer.. - I'm just too tired to start guessing again ....

...Maybe someone else has a guess for you that fits.

I don't give Helios support, I don't use it at all in DCS - I use a touch-screen based setup to use the Virtual-Cockpit directly.

I have Helios installed just to see what might can cause problems when examining others settings.

- read the documentation - and use the forum search .

There are more than 100 threads that covered almost everything.

Have also a look at this

do i need to start a nw thread in input and output or can i just ask here.

...just do what you like/suits you.

I don't own this forum and I'm not your nanny.

...There is no need to ask me for any permission.

But here is one advise:

Be precise about your questions, ...

and look at it again ,...and ask yourself "Is someone else able to understand what I'm talking when he isn't sitting at my computer ?"

If the answer is "no" - add additional info!

- and please follow forum rule 4.6

4.6. - General use of “normal writing” practices is expected, including grammar and punctuation rules. Extensive use of capital letters, symbols, emoticons and non-standard text size, font and color is discouraged.
..,don't get me wrong , English is also not my native language and I'm OK with a typo here and there..,- you writing style is maybe OK for chit-chatting. But following you is really difficult when talking about system-configurations problems.

A point here and a comma there would be a great help for others to understand you better.

Following the advises above will higher the chance significant that you get the answers that you need.

Ahhhhhhh dont be like that man i am sorry i am not that far, but i ve learned alot from you already.

About softth ...Well thats what i tought already would be the reason why you didnt made it with softth ... because Iam unexperienced.

Ill test this profile and maybe later ill knock back on your door for softth.

And about eyefinity i understand ill send you a detailed step by step config from my ccc and screen shots. dont send me to others man your the expert around here.
