Mauser55 Posted December 27, 2012 Posted December 27, 2012 (edited) Hi Guys, i didnt play this game for a while but since last updates it seems to me that accuracy of jdams is worse. Util than i was able to directly hit tanks almost always. But now in most cases the jdam hit ground just few meters from target (like 2-6m). I just wonder if it is intencional update of behavior of jadams or if it is some kind of bug. Thx for answers (sorry for my english) Edited December 27, 2012 by Mauser55
FishBike Posted December 27, 2012 Posted December 27, 2012 I don't know if it was part of an update, but I wouldn't consider it a bug. CEP for GBU-31 is 13m (so 50% of JDAMs dropped would land within 13m of the target). That's very good compared to unguided bombs, but not good enough to score direct hits on tanks. If you want to hit tanks fairly reliably, you would need something like a laser-guided bomb (CEP of about 1m for a GBU-12) instead. And with those you can hit moving tanks as well.

Thx for answers (sorry for my english) Sorry if you're already doing this, but I have to ask, Are you lasing the target prior to JDAM launch? If you are launching (marking) from a shallow angle, you need to lase to get a dead accurate distance to the target (as soon as you get lased distance and mark your spot, you can switch the laser off). TGP sees the ground behind the target, not a target per se, so it calculates distance to the point on the ground if you're not lasing - hence the near misses. Edited December 27, 2012 by danilop
Supersheep Posted December 27, 2012 Posted December 27, 2012 (edited) @danilop: JDAMs aren't influenced by the laser. The laser is relevant when creating the SPI. GBU 10/12 are laser guided, GBU 31/38 are GPS. Super- Edited December 27, 2012 by Supersheep Edited for tone -> sorry! The PVC Pipe Joystick Stand How to thread

danilop Posted December 27, 2012 Posted December 27, 2012 (edited) @danilop: ... The laser is relevant when creating the SPI. ... This If you designate without laser (especially at low angles to the target), and tnen slave JDAM to marked point, impact will be off by several meters (depending on the slant range) ... IIRC there is nice tutorial on youtube about that ... EDIT: There you go (1:43, you have illustration and great explanation of what is going on if you don't lase at low angles ) Edited December 27, 2012 by danilop
Mauser55 Posted December 27, 2012 Author Posted December 27, 2012 Thanks for all your responses. However, I am aware of GBUs radius deviation and problem of making SPI and markpoints. What I ment is that I doing it for a long time just by the same way (without lasing the target in case of JDAMs) and it worked perfectly. But since last updates the jdams seems to me more inaccurate (more realistic but more inaccurate compared to the previous state). So I am just asking if somebody noticed this difference too (within the game - I am not talking about real life scenarios right now). THX
Madone Posted December 27, 2012 Posted December 27, 2012 No difference for me. there's everything you should know above so I don't know how I could help you more.
