Pilotasso Posted December 27, 2012 Posted December 27, 2012 You are a bunch of funny guys. :) About the missed shots, you guys dont practice braketing tactics? That was one would always drop behind the bandits instead of doing fronatla ttacks that are easy to go wrong (its a lottery really). .
ralfidude Posted December 27, 2012 Author Posted December 27, 2012 We would love to. However, the way the mission designer made the mission, was such that we were at a disadvantage. We could not get low past waypoint 1, where the TORs and other IR Shorads were targeting us. It forced us to go head to head instead. I'm still pissed as hell that at a head on target that I was HIGHER and just as fast at I shot first and broke, got a missile warning launch 2 seconds later, then 1 second later I got splashed. I have no goddamn idea what that's about. I know you soft lock a target through TWS and all that, but aint no way he fired at me first and my MWS decided to just fu*k me... We were bitching about that for a while... [sIGPIC]http://i17.photobucket.com/albums/b66/ralfidude/redofullalmost_zpsa942f3fe.gif[/sIGPIC]
Pilotasso Posted December 27, 2012 Posted December 27, 2012 There is a bunch of things to be fixed with missiles, but a little altitude and lateral displacement is good to get back in the fight and makes it more difficult for the target to ortogonal roll your shots. it was nice video to watch though. :) .

Manuel Posted December 29, 2012 Posted December 29, 2012 One thought on the observed Missile Warning and 1 second after: splash. Could it be, that the enemy plane fired a missile with active radar guide just in the direction of your plane without locking onto you? You would hear the warning signal just when the missile seeker locks on your plane and that may be 1second before impact. Just an idea. edit: Tacview would help there... ralfidude Posted December 30, 2012 Author Posted December 30, 2012 Issue is, that I was higher and just as fast as he was, therefore I would have had a missile shot on him first. I know in TWS you do what's called a soft lock and the missile fires and then turns on it's radar, but I've been told it happens within a few seconds. So I'm realllllly not sure what the hell happened there. Linebacker experienced the same thing with him, and it wouldn't be the first time it's happened. I'l have a look at the tacview if the track is still there, but that pissed us off rather hard... [sIGPIC]http://i17.photobucket.com/albums/b66/ralfidude/redofullalmost_zpsa942f3fe.gif[/sIGPIC]
