dwest185 Posted December 28, 2012 Posted December 28, 2012 I was wondering if there is a setting to change to keep the mark point on the HUD visible under the Gun reticule? It's really annoying to not see the target from a distance after I aim the gun on the point...
WildBillKelsoe Posted December 28, 2012 Posted December 28, 2012 (edited) Sadly, the only option is to lock target with pod, and use the HUD cue to get a bigger marker. That said, the option for CCIP gun cross occult applies only to Total Velocity Vector, and not TGP/SPI. On the other hand, you'd like to assign a snap view zoomed to HUD centered to your HOTAS, so on final, you can better look at that tiny speck on the ground. You can use however, the biggest indication available, the Maverick seeker. HDD is 7 times range key. Radar to 160 km, IRST to 10 km. Stay low, but never slow.
dwest185 Posted December 30, 2012 Author Posted December 30, 2012 Thanks for the reply but after researching further I was able to turn off the CCIP gun sight occult and it works perfectly now. The TGP diamond is not occluded by the CCIP gun sight which allows me to pin point infantry that are beyond visual range.
Madone Posted December 30, 2012 Posted December 30, 2012 What's the trick? You can choose between 4 gun sights in CCIP, if you just select the simple cross you should better see your SPI but anyway, you must aim on your target at a moment so it will disappear. IMHO, it comes with the experience and the training, being able to lock your eyes on a speck on the ground as WildBill said. PS : Why do you use the gun in BVR? That's not possible if I take you to the words. When you use the gun, you're supposed to have a contact with the target. Strike Posture Set CAS Center of Excellence Intel Core i5 4690k @4,6Ghz, Gigabyte GTX 970 OC, Gigabyte Z97-X, 16GB G Skill Sniper @2400, Samsung 860/850 EVO , Win 10 64 bits, Dual monitors 27"@144"Opentrack + TM Warthog + Saitek pro flight combat

But when it's an infantryman and you wait till you can see him you'll kiss the ground.

When you use the gun, you're supposed to have a contact with the target. It is not so easy - first you have to question which FOV aka Zoom he is using and also the overall resolution and monitor size. For instance : It can happen easily that on a 32inch 720p monitor at 90° FOV you wont have a good visual even if below one mile distance. @dwest185 De-clutter your piper as Madone suggests and if this doesn't help, try to implement something like this for your gun-runs: Zoom-In/Zomm-Out on PAC1 to make your life easier ! dwest185 Posted December 30, 2012 Author Posted December 30, 2012 Thanks guys but I've resolved the problem which was simply how to keep the TPG diamond or SPI from disappearing under the gun reticule.
