Hello, I Just purchased DCS A10-C and downloaded DCS world as well but when i click on the .exe(for either program) i get the following error window.

"The application can not run under the debugger. Deactivate all active debuggers and run the application again."

I have no idea what this is refering to i am running win 7 64bit with 8 gigs of ram and an nvidia 9800gtx. If anyone can help me trouble shoot this it would be greatly appreciated.

Ive done a search for anything "debugger" related and have come up with nothing. visual studio is required for games is it not? i only have microsoft flight sim installed other then DCS.

More Starforce DRM goodness for paying customers to enjoy, no doubt. (Hint to ED, figuring out how to get the game to run is not a fun game...)

As far as i know Starfoce has never been the issue causing someone not being able to use DCS World or any module contained therein.

Yes Starfoce did cause problems way back in the early days, but that's history.

Only thing i can think off at this point is running the repair.exe, you can find it here;

start, all programs, eagle dynamics, dcs world, repair dcs world

Make sure to run it as an administrator.

If that fails, some other information that would be helpful for troubleshooting this issue would be;

Did the game ever work on your system? If yes have you installed anything recently after which you got this error?

When exactly are you getting this error?

When launching from the Desktop.exe

When loading a mission.

Once a mission is loaded and you press fly or otherwise unpause the game

etc etc.

***EDIT***

Given the fact you just purchased the game.

Could you post the links to what you have bought and where.

Could you post the links to the files you installed and downloaded.

Asking because you need to download the right file set for DCS World in order to install A10C into it.

Might be that you used the wrong A10C installer for this purpose.

The SDK is refering to a "software developing kit" i don't think this would be related to the debugger?

Still digging/guessing, but I'm still blaming Starforce for this. It seems the linked page is missing now, but check the Starforce Wikipedia page reference 2 quote:

http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/StarForce

"StarForce protection utilizes a unique driver allowing it to thoroughly secure the game data, and to prevent the analysis of the application’s code. Using that driver, StarForce provides increased defense capabilities, blocking the hacker’s attempts to tamper with the game core by running it under a debugger."

The Visual Studio thing was a shot in the dark; not something I would expect to see on your PC unless you intentionally installed it, and likewise for any other compiler/IDE/debugger type stuff. Any chance something installed an SDK/WDK package like those mentioned here? http://msdn.microsoft.com/en-us/windows/hardware/gg463009.aspx

Edit: You mentioned MSFS, any chance it installed an optional SDK? I see a service pack for MS Flight Simulator X SDK that mentions it is included in the Deluxe version (your guess is as good as mine as to whether it would include a debugge, but since you mention it's the only thing you have installed it seems as good a lead to chase as any...) http://www.softpedia.com/get/Programming/SDK-DDK/Microsoft-Flight-Simulator-X-SDK.shtml

I don't see any indication that StarForce is involved in this issue, so there's no point in ranting about StarForce.

That's the old standalone version of DCS A-10C. For DCS World (DCS 1.2.x and newer) you need to download the A-10C module.

Looks like the application crashed (corrupt file?). The information you posted is not enough. Can you post the full crash details (screenshot or text)?

It would also help if you could provide the technical details of your computer, a DXDiag report would be good.

How to create a DxDiag report - and attach it;

Use START-Run or type in the WIN-Search: DXDIAG

In DxDiag, press the button "Save All Information, to a TXT file" for the report.

Save the file to your desktop, it should be named "DxDiag.txt"

In the forum post - upload it using "Go Advanced", then press the "Manage Attachments" in the section below the post. Upload the TXT file.

Just out of curiosity, can you check the following registry path and look for a value called "debugger"? What is its value?

HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Microsoft\Windows NT\CurrentVersion\AeDebug\ --> debugger

Not sure if it will fix your problem, but the version of A10C you downloaded is the stand alone version.

Not the installer for DCS World, which you can download here;

I Have attached the computer specs but the error report from the game appears to be to big of a file. I did download the new .exe for a10c still with no luck.

I have searched for the debugger in "AEdebug" and the only 2 files in there are "default" and "userdebuggerhotkey"

I Have also included two screen shots of services that are running.

DxDiag.txt

- Just to be clear, does the error occur when trying to install DCS or when trying to run DCS (after successfully installing)?

- If the installation succeeded, did you select to install "Microsoft Visual C++ 2010"? (see image below)

attachment.php?attachmentid=65170&d=1335815821

Regarding the error message, do you you see a screen similar to the one below?

If so, can you post the error details here? (I believe you can copy/paste the text from the window)

Did you install the DCS module of A-10C?? Should be less then a gig in size.

The link goes to the standalone 1.1.1.1 version

FYI Starforce does not install anything on your system.

The only way to make sense out of change is to plunge into it, move with it, and join the dance.

The installation process seems to go with no issues except it tells me i already have a version of C++. It's when attempting to launch the game that i receive the error. The error window you have posted i have never seen before. I have attached an imagine of what pops up upon trying to launch the .exe.

I did download the 1.2.2 and attempt to run the standalone for dcs a10-c but still had the same results i have trying to launch DCS world. the same error window pops up.

I wish you had posted that earlier ;) It is in fact an error dialog from the Starforce protection. I'll try to find a solution.

After reviewing the list of active services, the most likely culprit seems to be BitDefender.

I found a thread where someone states he was unable to use a debugger while BitDefender was installed, as if BitDefender had installed itself as debugger. Only uninstalling seemed to help.

--> http://social.msdn.microsoft.com/Forums/en-US/vsdebug/thread/1c3117d6-e0f5-4cf7-a795-3a82f08230e5/

Apparently, the problem in my case was the antivirus. (Bitdefender Internet Security 2013).

Problem solved after uninstalling BD. Important note! disabling the BD features is not enough. Only uninstall.

According to another thread, the "active debugger" issue is solved by disabling real-time protection in BitDefender.

--> http://social.msdn.microsoft.com/Forums/en-IN/vsdebug/thread/1c4d049e-7dc9-472c-a289-d2c1c6474a23

You must disable the BitDefender real time scanner for your program to debug correctly!

and

... in my BD it was not necessary to disable the ESET.But the option "Intrusion detection system" (Firewall) must be disabled

xaoslaad, no problem. We all try to help.

I didn't recognize the error message, but you correctly identified it in your first reply. I only got it when I saw that screenshot.

Let's hope the problem is solved eventually!

Did you reboot your computer after uninstalling BD?

Either way, can you run the error report again from the Starforce error window? If you compress the error report it may be small enough to post here (or on some file share website). It could contain useful information.

I did some tests to see if the error would be caused by Daemon Tools, which are installed on Drastic55's system, but I didn't get any error.
