Flim Posted January 4, 2013 Posted January 4, 2013 (edited) I had a big cnc and Epilog laser that I sold a couple of years ago... I miss them greatly! So, I'm building a 30x48 cnc router and looking for another Epilog. The problem is if you don't have way to make the parts yourself or, have access to a machine where cost are low, then it is very tough to build a pit. For panel making... you need a laser, and for doing everything else you need a cnc. Also, the skills you learn will last a lifetime! Edited January 5, 2013 by Flim
BHawthorne Posted January 5, 2013 Posted January 5, 2013 (edited) I just wish I had a 5x10 router and a 18x24" laser in my shop. Throw in a surplus engine lathe and drill press and you're set for about anything. Edited January 6, 2013 by BHawthorne
wolfster Posted January 6, 2013 Author Posted January 6, 2013 You can only do it when you have the time, an hour here or there. All good arguments for and against but I think Metalnwood has hit the nail on the head. My pit build will needs to fit around two children, a wife and work so it will have to be done as and when I have free time, which makes other options more difficult. I'm currently looking in to the LG3040 (thanks again Metalnwood)from G WeiKe: http://wklaser.com/product/11_186.html as it has the DSP control system (as recommended by Gadroc) and a good balance between the machine footprint and working area (400x300mm). Just need to get the funds together now! 1
