Because this missile was not produced in real life and was never used on the Su-27 series of fighters.

How about the R-77 on Su-33? It appeares that Su-33 can carry R-77's! And the Su-33 and R-77 were operational approximately at the same time.

The Su-33 upgrade did not have enough funds to complete the project so the Su-33 can carry R-77s but it can' use them.
Can carry but can not use them?

Federation od American Scientist (FAS) claims that R-77 can be used on Su-33 "platform". http://www.fas.org/man/dod-101/sys/missile/row/aa-12.htm

It sure does, and so do other sites. They are all wrong. The upgrade was ment to go ahead and add the R-77, Kh-41 and other A2G goodies but the money was never put in place. It was announced some time in 1998/9 and a lot of sites put up the info as true and never changed it, including Janes Defence Group.

All right. What is your source then?

Since you talking and arguing with GG hell probably say, "well ED works with real crew and they never seen it carring the R-77" ;)

Not strictly true - Janes does list the upgrade, but it does now put more stress on the fact that it was only an upgrade brochure.

If I remember correctly, the wording they use is "there is no evidence this upgrade programme was ever funded".

The word is that the current fleet of naval aircraft will not now be upgraded - any new developments will be on the shoulders of the Su27KUB.

Round about now we need Alfa for the details on that one ;)

ED thought the upgrade was going ahead aswell as in Flanker 2.0 the Su-33 had the R-77 and it was removed in Lockon as the upgrade never happened. But if it did the Su-33 in lomac would have had it as the MiG-29S does. And if you want proof, just read either of Yefim Gordon's books on the Flanker, he also has some good Fulcrum books btw.

I would like to know for missel I do not function more?

I think to answer the original question regarding LOMAC.....

I read that devs changed the performance of the R-27AE to have a maximum of 1.0g (maneuverability, or what ever it is called). They did this in the latest patch i think, so you are wasting your time to carry these missiles.

One remark.

We specially decreased performance of illegal R-27AE. It missile has maximum G-Force at 1 (one). Therefore it missile can't hit any target with this limitation.

If he want he can use its missiles but anyway he remain without kills.

I suggest trying some Russian Navy/AF sites ;)

And yes Pilotasso, ED has a good grip on what the 33 carries and what it doesn't. Since it wasn't upgraded, it's the same as the Su-27S which is NOT capable of launching R77's.

The Su-33 is a navalized Su-27S.

Does anybody know when did the Su-27 or Su-33 get capability to fire Active Radar Missiles such as R-77 or R-27 EA?

The Su-33, never.

The Su-27SM has this capability, although I don't think they were equipped with it yet.

LOMAC's Flanker is the Su-27S, which isn't capable of launching that missile.

Also, R-27EA was never put into production. It doesn't exist in anyone's inventory.

No I dont think anyone knows - if or when - the Su-33 will be upgraded with this capability. So far the only Su-33 version with this capability is, as Britglider mentioned, the new twin-seat Su-27KUB(Su-33UB) prototype. This has a new WCS and radar - initially this was the "Zhuk-MS" slotted array set, but some reports suggest that it may have been replaced by the further developed "Zhuk-MSF" phased array version recently.

The Su-27 has already been upgraded to carry the RVV-AE as well as guided air-to-ground munitions - the upgraded version is designated Su-27SM and a few airframes have recently entered service with the VVS.

As far as the R-27AE is concerned, as already mentioned, this weapon was proposed in the early 90´ies, but for varies reasons never made it past the concept stage.

Cheers,

- JJ.
