Stalintc Posted January 13, 2013 Posted January 13, 2013 Hi all, I have got a new Thrustmaster Warthog on the way, due early this week. I just wanted to ask those of you who already own one, are there any things that I need to be aware of before setting up? Or any hot tips for a configuring to the DCS environment? I would also be keen to hear from any shark flyers who use this stick on their experiences?! For example, which button do you use for the trimmer switch? Cheers
Quirkitized Posted January 13, 2013 Posted January 13, 2013 Get latest drivers and firmware. For A-10C, you'll need to reconfigure the TRIM hat to trim as by default it's setup to use views (assuming you have trackir here) For KA-50. I use the left throttle as the collective, this leaves the right throttle free of movements so you don't accidently move the collective while hovering, as the right throttle has all the buttons. I use the <--- INC/DECR ---> dial as the throttle, since typically you just put that at 50% on startup and leave it.
Stalintc Posted January 13, 2013 Author Posted January 13, 2013 Thats very helpful thank you! Very clever idea with the throttle for the KA-50! I like that!! Yeah I use TIR, so I will map trim accordingly thanks!
Quirkitized Posted January 13, 2013 Posted January 13, 2013 Forgot to mention I use the pinky button (not the latch) for trim. Probably the most convenient button for trim
Arctic Posted January 13, 2013 Posted January 13, 2013 Turn on "Synch Cockpit Controls with HOTAS Controls at Mission start". If the APU switch on your Hotas Warthog is turned on before/while Mission start, its turned on in the cockpit, too. A really nice feature. The HOTAS is the best choice- you will have much fun with it! :)
Stalintc Posted January 14, 2013 Author Posted January 14, 2013 Thanks guys :) It turned up today! I ordered on Saturday!!!! Very impressed with this piece of kit, definatley best stick ive ever bought, if only from a quality impression so far!
Stalintc Posted January 15, 2013 Author Posted January 15, 2013 Ok just tried it out on the blackshark... best flight in the shark ever, so bloody precise its untrue!!! :) Im using the paddle switch as my trimmer and that works a charm :)
