ok, so plain and simple, i have DCS A-10c warthog and so does my friend. how do we connect our computers to LAN together without using the internet? the internet is extremely slow here in afghanistan, so we're wondering what are the steps we need to do to connect and fly together through a LAN connection.

thanks

Without interner access to the Master Server, you cannot do LAN play.

Fort Cambell, huh? Would I be wrong to assume, Army, right? Or is that the Marines?

Anyway, I have not tried LAN yet, and this is just experience talking here...

Easiest way:

You need a couple Ethernet cables and a Router. Should just be as simple as plugging both computers into the router. Then check the IP local address with a command prompt and ipconfig.

Once you get your internal/local address( should be something like Comp #1 - 192.168.1.1 & Comp #2 - 192.168.1.2 ), then just use the Join by IP button in Multiplayer.

Hope that helps! ;-)

All you need it a brief connection to verify your account info( anti-piracy ). The key is my post above.

LoL, yea, we're based at Fort Campbell. currently Bagram Airbase, Afgan. US Army Blackhawk crewchiefs.

i was really hoping we didnt have to have a router :( the internet here doesnt allow routers to be connected.

we were going to try what we were able to do for Borderlands 2...his computer connected to internet, he creates an ad-hoc network, i connect to ad-hoc, we were able to play together that way, but i think we may have done something wrong and been playing through the actual internet because it was seriously laggy.

if anyone knows how to get some kind of setup to work like this, any pointers would help.

Ok then this is a bit harder.... But still possible without a router.

Please tell me that you both are NOT using XP... And using Windows Vista or 7( networking has been severely simplified in these 2 OS's )

Also, I would like to thank you, and all your bretheran, on behalf of the 170th Clan, for your continued service! Please return to Kentucky Safely!

Here try this: How to Connect 2 Computers Using a LAN Cable

Then from the Multiplayer menu, in the dropdown choose LAN - instead of internet.

That guide in that post above, says to get a special cable, but with Windows 7, you hsould be able to use any Ethernet cable you have. Try that and let us know...

we can connect to each others computers using an ethernet cable, but if we do, neither one of us can connect to the internet anymore. .....this may change soon. we are moving to a different fob soon and supposedly they only have wireless internet there. it may work if we can connect to wireless, and then LAN with the ethernet cable.

Have you tried it so that you both connect to internet and login to multiplayer. When you are both in and see the server list you connect your computers together with the cable. Then enter LAN ip addresses and press connect by IP?

we got it! figured it out. his wireless adapter was acting up. some part of it was turned off or something or other.

here's what we did:

we both connected to the internet. both turned on wifi as well. he set up an ad-hoc. i connected to his ad-hoc. he set up a lan game in DCS multiplayer. i searched in DCS multiplayer under LAN games and he showed up. i joined his game and there you go.

thanks for the help! our main problem was his wireless adapter was screwed up in some way that his adapter was working, but he couldnt see any wireless networks.

been playing for a couple of hours now. finally ended with him shooting me down after i was trying to land back at the airstrip with 1 operational engine left LoL

if someone would mark this thread as solved if we can do that, thanks
