LordLobs Posted January 17, 2013 Posted January 17, 2013 (edited) What does this switch on the wall panel exactly do? The tooltip says "Navigation System Power" The Ka-50 Flight Manual (page 6-84) says: "ПНК ВКЛ – ОТКЛ" (Targeting Navigation system ON – OFF) switch. This switch governs power and ground checks for the targeting navigation system. [LSHIFT + N] I flew an entire mission to test it in the "disabled" position and everything seemed to work fine. I tested the PVI-800 (even inserted some nav target coordinates manually), autopilot Enroute mode, Auto Hover, Shkval, etc etc, all worked fine. Sorry if this was posted before, I've searched all over the forums and haven't found an answer. There are even some "Black Shark Start Up" videos on youtube that don't even mention this switch. Thanks! edit: Screenshot Edited January 17, 2013 by LordLobs
-Mop- Posted January 17, 2013 Posted January 17, 2013 (edited) i also realized this, while performing an auto start-up... this lever remains untouched Edited January 17, 2013 by -Mop-
JG14_Smil Posted January 17, 2013 Posted January 17, 2013 It is used for setup. I believe it allows setup without power to the targeting system. It is in the manual.
Daniel M Posted January 19, 2013 Posted January 19, 2013 i'm usually still powering up the engines when i flip this switch. prior to it being on, my pvi will not function. never thought to test turning it off after engines are at 100% though...

Yes, you're right. But the PVI will also work if you flip only the "K-041 Targeting-Navigation" switch on the Left Panel, even if you're only on batteries or ground power.
Nooch Posted July 25, 2015 Posted July 25, 2015 But why do they say, in the checklist, we must switch it on? (manual p.424 and p.333) If it is only useful when the engines are off and k-041 is off, it doesn't make too much sense.... [sIGPIC][/sIGPIC]
